Your Destination —
The hills are designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and it’s easy to see why; their most famous beauty spots include The Devil’s Punchbowl, a naturally formed amphitheatre, and Box Hill, a favourite picnic spot, with its commending views across the South Downs. Less well known are the Frensham Ponds, (or Surrey’s beach if you’re a local); these provide a welcome invitation to soak your tired feet!
Great Fosters Hotel 4* —
More than four centuries of celebrated history have enriched Great Fosters with a remarkable heritage.
Framed on three sides by a Saxon moat, the formal gardens of Great Fosters are both extensive and exceptional. Designed to reflect the intricate beauty of a Persian rug, the knot garden is embellished with fragrant beds of flowers and herbs bordered by manicured hedges and topiary. At the heart of it all is the Drake sundial, which historians suggest may have been donated by Sir Francis Drake and is believed to date back to 1585.

First awarded a Michelin star in October 2016 and headed up by Douglas Balish, the Tudor Room at Great Fosters is an intimate sophisticated restaurant open for lunch on a Thursday & Friday and for dinner from Wednesday to Saturday inclusive. The Tudor Room is a beautifully decorated dining room with the intimacy of only 24 covers.
The service is attentive yet unobtrusive and the food speaks for itself. A showcase for Douglas's inspirations and aspirations for Great Fosters, his style is classic but with a modern twist: seasonal ingredients, sourced locally where possible but not at the expense of ensuring only the best and most superior quality.
The Estate Grill
In contrast to The Tudor Room, this is the hotel's contemporary restaurant where guests can feast on delicious dishes under impressive exposed beams & surrounded by contemporary art.
Please note: some dining outlets/menu items and premium, branded and international drinks may not be included and may incur a surcharge payable locally. Meals, snacks and drinks may be available at selected times only
