The Peak District is, and has long been, one of the UK’s most popular walking destinations.  From challenging treks up hills and crags to simple strolls in the countryside, Derbyshire has something for everyone. Rougly 500 sq km of land is available for public use in the Peak District National Park, including moors, heaths and commons, many of which offer spectacular views and the opportunity to enjoy hiking, bird watching, climbing and running.

This hotel is located within the legendary Chatsworth Estate, home to the stunning Chatsworth House, a spectacular stately home that boasts blissful gardens, a collection of artwork that spans over 4000 years, a magnificent sculpture gallery and even a working farmyard! The House itself has been used in a variety of films across the years, and possibly most famously featured as Pemberley in the 2005 adaptation of Pride and Prejudice.

The Cavendish Hotel at Baslow —

The Cavendish Hotel at Baslow's origins can be traced back as far as the 1700s, where it was famously called the Peacock Inn. In 1830, it was acquired by the Duke of Devonshire, who renamed the hotel and furnished the property with some of the pieces from Chatsworth House itself!

Today, having undergone many renovations, this quaint, rural retreat offers a variety of sumptuous bedrooms, alongside delicious dining venues and beautifully manicured grounds - the perfect option for an idyllic and romantic escape to the countryside!

Standard Room

Most of the hotel's Standard Rooms are located in the Devonshire Wing, and boast charming views across the Estate. The Duchess of Devonshire herself directed the recent refurbishment of these rooms, and the amenities available include a modern en-suite bathroom with underfloor heating, luxury toiletries, bathrobes, a hairdryer, and a minibar, complete with tea and coffee making facilities and exclusive Chatsworth biscuits.

Superior Inn/Coach House Room

Superior Inn Rooms
Located in the most historic part of the hotel, these rooms occupy the original Peacock Inn and promise four poster beds, lavish bathrooms and gorgeous antique furnishings.

Coach House Rooms
These rooms ensure an utterly blissful stay, promising access to period furniture, opulent bathrooms and rich decor - wake up to views of the Estate and relax in total tranquillity!

The Cavendish Hotel at Baslow also offers a delicious afternoon tea, which features a variety of finger sandwiches, alongside indulgent buttermilk scones, clotted cream and fruity preserves.
