Originally designed as a resort for wealthy visitors in the 18th and 19th century, Cheltenham is an elegant Regency spa town with a delightful range of restaurants and entertainment on offer.

Known as the food capital of the Cotswolds, Cheltenham has a cafe round every corner, and independent restaurants spring up on every street, using fresh locally-sourced ingredients. There are well known branded food outlets, family favourites and new restaurants with awards to their name. From traditional fish and chips, to Michelin-starred restaurants, there really is something for everyone.

Places to visit:

Cheltenham Art Gallery and Museum - A world-famous collection relating to the Art and Craft Movement, including fine furniture and exquisite metalwork made by Cotswold craftsmen – inspired by William Morris. Rare Chinese and English pottery. 400 years of painting by Dutch and British artists. Special exhibitions throughout the year.

Chedworth Roman Villa - Nestling in a wooded combe in the heart of the Cotswolds and surrounded by beautiful woodland walks are the remains of one of the largest Roman villas in the country.

Hotel Description —

Located on the outskirts of the Regency town of Cheltenham, The Greenway is a 16th Century luxury Elizabethan manor house hotel and spa. The 21 bedroom hotel, with its warm Cotswold stone exterior draped in ivy, is the picture of English country charm and lies in eight acres of stunning grounds with views over the rolling Cotswold Hills.

The grandfather clock ticks as you enter through stone archways into a beautiful entrance hall with wooden floors, an open fire and a décor of soft golds and honeys. Your welcome is warm and genuine and you begin to unwind in the relaxing atmosphere of our country house retreat.

The hotel was awarded a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellent in 2014, ensuring absolute quality and care during your stay.

Rooms —

This offer is based on a complimentary upgrade to a Master Room, which can accommodate up to 3 adults.

There are four stunning Master Rooms available at the hotel and all are simply superb. Large and luxurious with king sized beds as standard. Enjoy views across the grounds and a mix of features including roll top baths, his and hers sinks, double showers and comfortable sitting areas.

Eating & Drinking —

This offer is based on a bed and breakfast stay.

Garden Restaurant - The Greenway's stunning oak panelled restaurant, with its grand stone feature fireplace, elegant decor and beautiful views over the sunken garden and ornate lily pond, is the perfect place to enjoy fine dining, good company and superb wines. Glass doors open onto the terrace in the summer months, when guests can dine after a game of croquet or a walk around eight acres of well tended gardens. The restaurant holds national and international awards for its cuisine and has been awarded two AA Rosettes for the quality of food and service.

Orchard Brasserie - The new Orchard Brasserie is sleek, edgy and really rather fabulous. The chic décor and contemporary design make it perfect for a long lunch, dinner with the girls or a relaxing evening with a glass of wine. It overlooks the Elan Spa gardens, adding a touch of tranquillity and nature to your dining experience.

Elan Spa - A spa break at The Greenway Hotel & Spa is the ultimate relaxation destination for those wanting to take some time out of the fast lane. The fabulous new spa is an oasis of tranquillity and calm, providing the very best in luxurious treatments that will leave you floating on cloud nine. The facilities include a stunning hydrotherapy pool, sauna, steam room, sanarium, and alfresco hot tub. They use only the most luxurious products and treatments including: Comfort Zone, Orly, Nailtiques, Mama Mio and The Natural Spa Factory (seasonal scrubs).

Please note: The use of the spa is available from 3pm on the day of check in and until 11am on the day of check out.

By car:

From London via M40 Oxford
Leave London and join the M40 towards Oxford
At Junction 8 join the A40 to Oxford
Take the Oxford ringroad sign posted to Cheltenham
Just before Andoversford turn left to Gloucester (Frog Mill Inn) on the A436
The A436 then becomes the A417 at a roundabout (Hot Air Ballon Pub)
Go straight over the roundabout towards Gloucester
You will then join a dual carriageway, take the exit marked Cheltenham/Stroud (A46)
Follow the A46 to Cheltenham and the entrance to
The Greenway is approx 1 mile on the right

From London via the M4
Take the M4 to Junction 15 (Swindon)
Take the A419 Swindon Bypass to Cirencester
At Cirencester ignore signs for Cheltenham but continue to join the A417 to Gloucester
At the bottom of a long hill you will join a dual carriageway, take the exit marked A46 Cheltenham/Stroud and follow the A46 to Cheltenham
The Greenway is approx 1 mile on the right hand side

North or South Bound on the M5
Leave the M5 at Junction 11A and join the A417 towards Cirencester
At the A46 Junction turn left towards Cheltenham
The Greenway is approx 1 mile on the right hand side

From Cheltenham Town Centre
Follow the ringroad and look for sign for the A46 to Stroud
Follow the A46 out of Cheltenham, past Cheltenham College, along the Bath Road to Shurdington
Carry on along the A46 through the village, past the MidWay Motors car garage and past the Cheeserollers Pub
The entrance to The Greenway is on the left hand side just after the nurseries.
