Just for you:
- Welcome drink on arrival
If you’ve always wanted to stay in a castle, look no further. Thornbury Castle, once owned by Henry VIII, has stood firm through many of history’s most pivotal and dramatic events. The castle was originally conceived and constructed by Edward Stafford, the only man to rival King Henry VIII’s wealth and status. It was a display of wealth and ambition that Henry did not take kindly to, and after Stafford was found guilty of treason, the king took control of the castle he so coveted.
Today, its surroundings are a little more peaceful: nestled in the leafy landscape of South Gloucestershire, it offers a luxurious step back in time from the hustle and bustle of modern life. Visitors can enjoy Thornbury Castle at its best. Tudor style meets modern excellence, with comfortable four-poster beds, magnificent open fireplaces, a dungeon dining room and a grand hall for balls, feasts and parties.

Bristol —
Bristol is full of fantastic attractions that make for a great day out, from Britain’s most acclaimed historic ship to its iconic suspension bridge, one of Europe’s leading interactive science centres and an outstanding network of free museums.
SS Great Britain - Step back in time when you board Brunel’s SS Great Britain. Discover the true stories behind the ship that changed the world. Experience the sights, sounds and smells of life on-board for Victorian passengers and crew. Descend underwater below the glass ‘sea’ to touch the world’s first great ocean liner.
Clifton Suspension Bridge - The world-famous Clifton Suspension Bridge was designed by the great Victorian engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel, although he never lived to see his creation finished in 1864. Take in the views from its spectacular setting on the cliffs of the Avon Gorge.
Bristol Cathedral - this site has been home to a whole host of churches for over a thousand years but it came to prominence in 1140 when Robert Fitzharding founded the Abbey of St. Augustine. The original Chapter House and Abbey Gatehouse can still be seen. The structure of the eastern end of the Cathedral, especially in the Choir, exemplifies this period in British and European architecture. The Nave, Choir and Aisles are all the same height, creating a magnificent hall. Bristol Cathedral is the best known example of a 'Hall Church' in Great Britain and one of the finest anywhere in the world.
