Your Destinations —
Bristol
Bristol is full of fantastic attractions that make for a great day out, from Britain’s most acclaimed historic ship to its iconic suspension bridge, one of Europe’s leading interactive science centres and an outstanding network of free museums.
SS Great Britain - Step back in time when you board Brunel’s SS Great Britain. Discover the true stories behind the ship that changed the world. Experience the sights, sounds and smells of life on-board for Victorian passengers and crew. Descend underwater below the glass ‘sea’ to touch the world’s first great ocean liner.
Clifton Suspension Bridge - The world-famous Clifton Suspension Bridge was designed by the great Victorian engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel, although he never lived to see his creation finished in 1864. Take in the views from its spectacular setting on the cliffs of the Avon Gorge.
Bristol Cathedral - this site has been home to a whole host of churches for over a thousand years but it came to prominence in 1140 when Robert Fitzharding founded the Abbey of St. Augustine. The original Chapter House and Abbey Gatehouse can still be seen. The structure of the eastern end of the Cathedral, especially in the Choir, exemplifies this period in British and European architecture. The Nave, Choir and Aisles are all the same height, creating a magnificent hall. Bristol Cathedral is the best known example of a 'Hall Church' in Great Britain and one of the finest anywhere in the world.
You'll also be close to Bath and Cardiff - so why not visit some of these local gems?
