Your Destination —
Birmingham is a hive of rich and diverse culture. Admire the innovative architecture dotted around the city, or explore the majestic waterways that are lined with history and culture. If retail therapy is your bag, then treat yourself to an indulgent spree around the famous Bullring and Grand Central shopping areas. From high-end department stores to the characterful arcades, independent shops and the historic markets in Digbeth, Birmingham has something for every shopper alike. There are also countless great cafés, bars and restaurants around to fuel you.
Whilst you're in the city, make sure you stop by the majestic St Philip's Cathedral and soak in the timeless peace that this place has been giving visitors and worshippers for over 300 years. Built in 1715 as the new parish church “on the hill”, St Philip's is a rare and fine example of elegant English Baroque architecture. Fascinating both inside and out, the cathedral is home to some truly remarkable treasures. Wander around and marvel at the stunning stained-glass windows and the incredible stories that they tell.
The lush Birmingham Botanical Gardens are another of the city's best attractions. Enjoy the four beautiful glasshouses showcasing every terrain from tropical rainforest to arid desert, a children's playground and stylish tearoom all surrounded by some of the most beautiful gardens in the UK. There's also a large lawn in front of the glasshouses with a range of colourful floral beds and shrubberies for you to admire.
