Steeped in history and oozing with charm, the Relais Cooden 4* Beach Hotel was once the private home of the De La Warr family. During their time at Cooden Beach, they entertained many notable guests, including King George VI and his family, and the young Princess Elizabeth used to play with her sister Princess Margaret on the beach below. The hotel also became a favourite hideaway for the Duke of Windsor and Wallace Simpson and Sir Winston Churchill.
Today, the hotel is a great place for a restorative escape, and has been newly renovated with stylish interiors inspired by the hotel's waterside location. The coastal interiors are designed to capture the essence of the sea, with nautical stripes and colours inspired by the blues of the English Channel and the warm terracotta of the sun. Attentive staff encourage guests to call on them for any 'whims or wishes' and will do their all to guarantee a red carpet kind of stay.
