Brave the peaks of Coniston Old Man and Skiddaw for breathtaking scenery.  

Retrace the footsteps of William Wordsworth, who spent most of his life in and around Grasmere, and described it as “the loveliest spot that man hath ever known.” Visit Dove Cottage, Rydal Mount and the main fells to tap into his poetic inspirations and influences. Who knows... Nestled in the stunning landscape of Wordsworth's Grasmere Vale, The Forest Side 4* is an elegant country house that exudes fairytale Gothic charm. Home to just 20 elegant rooms with furnishings and design by renowned designer James Mackie, this is a truly decadent escape. To make your stay even more special, the hotel is home to its very own Michelin-starred restaurant, serving superb cuisine with fresh local produce. This amazing eatery has been voted 27th best restaurant in the Good Food Guide with 4 AA Rosettes.

Sip on a cocktail from the hotel's extensive list of handcrafted drinks - whether you're after a non-alcoholic 'mocktail', or one of the signature drinks such as the 'Cumbrian Express' made with meadowsweet infused vodka and coffee liqueur.
