Your Itinerary —
Day 1: Arrival in Sri Lanka
Upon arrival you will be met by your driver and transferred to your hotel in Negombo.

After breakfast, proceed to Kandalama & visit Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage en route. Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage is the home for young Elephants who have been displaced or lost from their natural habitat, located at Pinnawala village in Sabaragamuwa province of Sri Lanka. Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage is the best place for an up close and personal experience with the world’s largest land mammals.
Afterwards continue to Kandalama & spend the rest of the day at leisure.

After breakfast at the hotel proceed to Sigiriya, where you can climb the 1200 steps and admire the fabulous frescoes on the walls of the ancient rock fortress. The Sigiriya Rock Fortress is known as the 8th wonder of the world, built by King Kasyapa in the 5th century A.D. and was a royal citadel for more than 18 years. In a sheltered pocket, approached by a spiral stairway, are the famous frescoes. The summit of the rock, with an area of nearly one hectare, was the site of the palace while the outer wall was built on the very brink of the precipice. The UNESCO sponsored Central Cultural Fund has restored Sigiriya 5th century water gardens to their former glory.
Upon completion continue to Polonnaruwa. Rising with the decline of Anuradhapura, the city of Polonnaruwa - medieval capital & crown jewel of King Parakramabahu I - remains superior proof of ancient culture & heritage blended with religious beliefs. Walk across the scattered walls of this World Heritage Site - blessed by stupas, resting Buddha statues, irrigation canals and fantastically carved Hindu sculptures - while observing the relic house - Watadage - which boasts of beautiful stone carvings. Take a close glance and you will realize a subtle Hindu influence on architecture and statues found in Polonnaruwa.

After breakfast proceed to visit Dambulla Cave Temple. A vast isolated rock mass- it was here that king Valagambahu took refuge in the 01st century B.C. He later turned the caves into a rock temple. Dambulla is a world heritage site and is the most impressive of Sri Lanka’s cave temples. The complex of five caves with over 2000sqm of painted walls and ceiling found here are over 2000 years old and is the largest area of painting found in the world. The caves contain over 150 images of the Buddha of which the largest is the colossal figure of the Buddha carved out of rock and spanning 14m.
Afterwards, continue to Matale which is famous for its batik production and spice gardens. Batik has been an ancient art of painting cloth and today Sri Lanka is among the world leaders in the design of batik. Batik galleries and factories offer batik from simple single-colored designs to intricate multi-colored masterpieces. For centuries, spices have been one of Sri Lanka's celebrated exports. Spices are mostly grown in home gardens (as a home industry) and used not only to flavor food but also for medicine and cosmetics.
On completion, proceed to your hotel in Kandy and spend the rest of the day exploring the city. Kandy is a lovely city, the Hill Capital and last stronghold of the Sinhala Kings retains an aura of grandeur, which time has not affected. Encircled by hills, with a tranquil lake in its center, it is the site of the renowned "Temple of the Tooth". Kandy and its satellite villages is the center of the island’s handicraft industry and its traditional dances are the most spectacular in the country.

After breakfast leave for the Royal Botanical Gardens in Peradeniya. This was originally the King's own royal pleasure garden that was later converted in to a botanic garden and opened to the public. At the Royal Botanical Gardens you can treat your eyes to an amazing, wide and rare collection of tropical and temperate, exotic and indigenous flora, and an orchid house with the largest collection in Asia.

After breakfast proceed to Nuwara Eliya & visit a tea plantation en-route.
Sri Lanka, Tea and Tourism are words which cannot be separated. Take a tour to the cold & misty hills that take pride of an ultimate tea tour, covering lush green blankets of tea plantations. Or just step into a tea factory processing the prestigious brand of Ceylon Tea, to observe a rich tradition kept alive up to date. As you observe the hissing and swishing of machines, inhaling the heavenly scent arising from these facilities, make sure to end your day in style over a perfectly blended cup of pure Ceylon Tea.
You can also choose to add a train ride to Nuwara Eliya. Instead of simply driving to Nuwara Eliya you can take a train through beautiful lush forests. Enjoy the picturesque journey, the train snaking its way through the mountains through the tea country. The vehicle will follow you to Nanu Oya, the last station before Nuwara Eliya. Proceed by the vehicle to Nuwara Eliya & your hotel.
