KANDALAMA - HABARANA - SIGIRIYA - KANDALAMA
Following a hearty and complimentary breakfast, you will proceed to Kandalama. Begin by journeying on tuk tuks and bullock carts through the countryside, before enjoying a boat ride on the Habarana lake in a traditional fishing catamaran. Engage in a cultural visit to a plantation before going to a village house where you will be given a demonstration of local cuisine & lunch.
In the Afternoon you will be driven to Sigiriya to visit the famous Lion Rock! It is a citadel built in the 5th century AD. by parricide king Kasyapa. Reach the summit of Lion Rock's eagle's nest via the stone staircases and enjoy views from 180 ! Look out above the blue mountains drowning in the green ocean of the jungle. Late in the afternoon you will return to the hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.
KANDALAMA - POLONNARUWA - MINNERIYA - KANDALAMA
After breakfast, you will be transferred to Polonaruwa. Here, you can discover an archaeological site founded in the twelfth century. As the work of a single king, Parakrama Bahu (1153 - 1186), this site symbolises both the rebirth of the Sinhalese civilization born in Anuradhapura and the last fires. At the end of the 12th century, the monarchy sank into a long decline following the raids of Malaysian pirates. Learn the colourful history here! Discover the royal palace, the Shiva temple and a group of Buddhist temples where the Vatadage (the circular chamber of the relics), the Gal Viharae rock site and its three Buddha statues are located.
On the way back to Kandalama, you will visit Minneriya National Park, where you will be able to observe birds, crocodiles, spotted deer, wild buffalo, & also herds of wild elephants by jeep! Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at the hotel.
SIGIRIYA - DAMBULLA - KANDY
After breakfast you will head over to Dambulla. Here, you will visit the rock monastery of Dambulla where caves have been dug in a huge block of granite perched at over 160 m altitude. The set includes five rock temples - the walls of the first were covered with gold leaf, which earned him to be called "the golden rock". In these five "caves" are hundreds of Buddha statues, as well as frescoes, which cover about 1,800 square meters, depicting effigies or episodes of Buddha's life.
Following this cultural experience, continue on to Matale and visit a spice garden at the gateway to the old capital of Kandy. Long before tea, Sri Lanka was famous for its spices and especially for its cinnamon trees that gave its name to one of Colombo's beautiful neighbourhoods: the Cinnamon Gardens. Resume your journey and arrive in Kandy in the afternoon . At the end of the day you will attend a Kandyan traditional dance show. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
KANDY
After breakfast, enjoy exploring the hill capital of Sri Lanka - Kandy. Kandy was the last royal capital of the country until 1815 and its attachment to the British crown. Today, it is the cultural and spiritual core of Sri Lanka, and was registered as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1988.
Visit Dalada Maligawa. and the famous Temple of the Tooth of Buddha (named because of the relic that he preciously keeps). During the daily ritual of worship at this relic, you will be fascinated by the intense fervour of pilgrims laden with fragrant flowers and various offerings! Later in the day you will visit the botanical gardens of Peradeniya, in the suburbs of Kandy. These gardens are the largest in Sri Lanka and surely among the most beautiful in the world. Known as former royal parks before the arrival of the British, one finds more than 60 hectares here, with hundreds of species including more than 300 varieties of orchids and a majestic fig tree whose branches extend on about 2500 m ². In the late afternoon you will visit a gem lapidary. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
KANDY - GIRAGAMA - COLOMBO - AHUNGALLA

Despite a limited surface area, Sri Lanka is now among the top 3 tea producers of tea exports behind China and India.
Upon arrival in Colombo, explore exciting architecture that has been greatly influenced by the British colonial presence. You will see the Independence Monument, the Colonial Downtown, the lively Pettah District, the Galle Face esplanade and the upscale neighbourhoods. If you are interested, there is also the opportunity to spend time walking freely in the streets of Colombo.
Following a long day of sightseeing, you will be driven to Ahungalla, where you will check into your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.
(Optional Extra: Visit an Elephant Orphanage - 20.00 € per person)
AHUNGALLA
After breakfast you will leave for Galle. Take the road along the coast and arrive in Galle, the former trading post and fortified city. Walk clockwise within the fort to observe the 'old gate' carrying the British coat of arms. Flanking the old gate is the Zwart bastion - the oldest of all - and a lighthouse which stands 18 feet in its glory next to the Point Utretcht Bastion. This Dutch bliss is painted with streets that spread in a rectangular grid pattern, pierced with houses carrying Dutch colonial style verandas.
However, its hallmark stands in reality, as the Dutch fort remains a working community with its usual buzz of administrative offices, court complex, commercial buildings, churches and Southern folks frequenting its streets bracing the air of the Elysium of architecture. Return to your hotel with a unique visit to a turtle hatchery en route.
Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at the hotel.
