Pick up your car upon arrival in Cape Town & immerse yourself in a city renowned for being one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Situated at the base of Table Mountain, it is the capital city of the Western Cape. Whether you are looking for history, natural beauty or a cosmopolitan lifestyle, the 'Mother City' has it all.
There is such a diversity of attractions and activities you will not be disappointed with your city experience. Offering fantastic views of the city, Table Mountain dominates the skyline. For natural surroundings, there are gardens, beaches and vineyards all close by. Cape Town is steeped in history and many of the museums and monuments have much to tell. For a cosmopolitan and lively experience, visit the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront with a wide variety of shops, restaurants and craft markets.
Cape Town overwhelms the senses. Its cultivated side, the bright lights and big buildings of the city center, collides with its geography — the dazzle and danger of the wind-whipped mountains and the two oceans that embrace it.
Venture along the Cape Peninsula, towards Hout Bay, to the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve and its scenic viewing point. This part of South Africa is an animal lover's dream, you can stop at Boulders Beach to see the African penguins or embark on a boat to observe the impressively large seal colonies of Duiker Island.
Embark on a scenic drive through South Africa's undulating vineyards. This is where you will find the iconic Stellenbosch vineyards which dates back to 1679 and resides no more than half an hour’s drive from the cosmopolitan buzz of Cape Town.
The fertile green valleys of the Cape Winelands are surrounded by stunning mountain ranges that provide a breathtaking view. With hundreds of wine farms to discover and wines to taste, award-winning restaurants on every corner and wonderful scenery, the Cape Winelands is South Africa’s equivalent of Provence in southern France.
Drive to Oudtshoorn via Mossel Bay, this area is known as the ostrich capital of the world and is situated in the Klein Karoo between the Swartberg and Outeniqua mountains. The world's biggest bird is just one of the many attractions in this area of exceptional contrasts and natural beauty. The scenic country route meanders through the fertile valleys of the Klein Karoo, past rugged rock formations, the tops of which are covered in snow in winter.
Spend the day at your own leisure visiting the Cango Caves and one of the Show-Ostrich Farms, where you will learn everything worth knowing about ostriches. At the end, the daring visitor may go for a ride on the obstinate birds and make a bet on who might win the ostrich race.
Discover the beauty of Knysna. This gem stands out on South Africa's famed Garden Route thanks to the sandstone cliffs that dramatically separate its tranquil lagoon from the pounding surf of the Indian Ocean. It's also home to the country's largest indigenous forest.
Here you will have free time to visit the Knysna Waterfront and head off on a paid excursion to the world-famous
Knysna lagoon for a cruise.
Drive to Addo via Plettenberg Bay and see the famous Addo elephants as well as mile after mile of verdant citrus trees, bearing fruit all winter and scenting the air with their blossoms in springtime. Established in 1931 to save 11 Elephants on the brink of extinction, this national park is now home to more than 350 elephants, 280 cape buffalo, black rhino, a range of antelope species, as well as the rare flightless dung Beetle.
