Your Destination —
Cape Town is renowned for being one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Situated at the base of Table Mountain, it is the capital city of the Western Cape. Whether you are looking for history, natural beauty or a cosmopolitan lifestyle, the 'Mother City' has it all.
There is such a diversity of attractions and activities you will not be disappointed with your city experience. Offering fantastic views of the city, Table Mountain dominates the skyline. For natural surroundings, there are gardens, beaches and vineyards all close by. Cape Town is steeped in history and many of the museums and monuments have much to tell. the For a cosmopolitan and lively experience, visit the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront with a wide variety of shops, restaurants and craft markets.
Whilst you are in Cape Town, there is a plethora of things to do to keep you enthralled throughout. From hiking to the top of Table Mountain and watching the sun go down at Lion's Head, to visiting Robben Island to see where Nelson Mandela was held. Take a day trip to the Cape of Good Hope, make some new penguin friends at Boulder Beach (and even swim with them!) or view the vastness of the wineries in Stellenbosch or Constantia. Lastly, kick back on the V&A Waterfront with a meal and a drink after a visit to the Zeizt Mocca Museum to wind down from your adventures!
Cape Town overwhelms the senses. Its cultivated side, the bright lights and big buildings of the city center, collides with its geography — the dazzle and danger of the wind-whipped mountains and the two oceans that embrace it.
Plettenberg Bay is a small ocean-side resort surrounded by magnificent beaches, and peacefully located on the Western Cape Province, in the heart of the Garden Route National Park! While visiting the surrounding areas you will discover the abundance of South African wildlife in unforgettable landscapes. On your way to Plettenberg Bay, be sure to try shark cage diving in Gansbaai (must be pre-booked) or spot whales from the coast in Hermanus (July - December).
The famous and scenically stunning Garden Route stretches between the towns of Mossel Bay and Port Elizabeth. Bordered on one side by the sea and on the other, by mountains. Taking a few days to drive along this route, stopping at some of the pretty little towns, is an opportunity to absorb some of the amazing beauty of South Africa.
Knysna stands out on South Africa's famed Garden Route thanks to the sandstone cliffs that dramatically separate its tranquil lagoon from the pounding surf of the Indian Ocean. It's also home to the country's largest indigenous forest, a forest elephant sanctuary, a lagoon and stunning beaches.
Along the route, be sure to try out a Tsitsikamma Canopy Tour wherein you can spot monkeys and turacos amongst 700-year old trees; nature lovers will also revel in the Fynbos Flora Kingdom, where the unique Fynbos flower grows in abundance!
It is easy to be seduced by the city’s cosmopolitan carpe diem lifestyle and spend a few days on safari too, but the Western Cape itself is a wonderful area to explore by car... This is the kind of holiday that invites introspection, the scenery constantly changing around you, the pace of each new discovery entirely in your hands.
