Day 1 to 4: Cape Town
DAY 1: CAPE TOWN
Arrival in Cape Town and welcome at Cape Town Airport. The guide will give you your travel documents, including a prepaid phone card. They'll review the itinerary, answer any questions, and you'll collect your rental car.
Drive to Cape Town and explore the city. Admire Edwardian, Victorian and Cape Dutch architecture, cobbled streets, and the Islamic-style Malay Quarter.
Included Excursion to Table Mountain:
Travel up Table Mountain by cable car for a magnificent view of the city, port and bay (subject to weather conditions when the mountain is not covered by clouds or fog).
Overnight at Hollow On The Square Hotel 4* (or similar) in Standard room, with breakfast.
DAY 2: CAPE TOWN - THE CAPE OF GOOD HOPE PENINSULA

Travel along the beaches of the Atlantic Ocean to reach Hout Bay, a small fishing port set in a picturesque fjord.
You may wish to take a boat trip to see Duiker Island, with its rugged landscape and seal colony, or visit the Cape of Good Hope nature reserve.
You can visit Boulders Beach to see a colony of penguins, and the Kirstenbosch Botanical garden is highly recommended.

DAY 3: CAPE - HERMANUS REGION

- Discover Hermanus Cliff Path
Renowned in season (July to October) for whales migrating, the coastal landscapes are among the most beautiful in the country!
Take an easy walk on the Cliff Path, a 10k+ km trail that runs along the cliff from the new Westcliff Harbour to Grotto Beach. Please note that the area between Blow Hole and Kraal Rock is a protected marine reserve.

DAY 4: CAPE TOWN

Travel to the wine-growing village Franschhoek, nestled between the mountains, and renowned worldwide for its excellent wines. Considered the food and wine capital of South Africa, the streets are lined with many cafés and excellent restaurants. Explore the art galleries, organic markets, boutiques and renowned restaurants.
Visit the small town of Stellenbosch, an important university town with a European atmosphere. You may wish to see the Stellenbosch Museum, with its restored historic houses and gardens.

Day 5 to 7: Cape Town, Kruger & Makalali
DAY 5: CAPE TOWN TO KRUGER
Breakfast at the hotel. Return your rental vehicle at Cape Town Airport. Check-in for your flight to Kruger (economy class), and when you arrive at Kruger Airport, pick up your new rental car and drive to Kruger Park.
Spend as much time as possible in Kruger National Park for an incredible wildlife-watching experience (before dusk only - travelling in the park at night is prohibited).
Breakfast and lunch are available at one of the many 'rest camps' inside the park or, if you don't want to stop, you can ask your hotel to prepare a snack for you to take away. Open vehicle game drives can be booked locally.

DAY 6: KRUGER

- South Kruger Safari (full day aboard your vehicle)
Kruger National Park is one of Africa's largest game reserves, home to a vast array of species including the 'Big Five' - lion, elephant, leopard, rhinoceros and buffalo. There are 147 species of mammals and more than 517 species of birds. Spotting an animal in the Kruger Park takes luck, but makes for an even more exhilarating safari!
The coach safari gives guests a great vantage point overlooking the dense vegetation of the park. Perhaps you'll spot one of the 1,000 leopards in this huge reserve!

DAY 7: KRUGER - MAKALALI

- Blyde River Canyon and Potholes
Explore this 26km-long gorge carved into the rocky landscape and marvel at its depth.
Included Afternoon 4x4 Safari Excursion.
Arrive at Makalali, a fenced reserve of 22,000 hectares, located west of Kruger National Park. The various activities on offer include exploring the reserve in a 4x4, walking safaris, and sleeping under the stars. Lunch included.
Overnight and dinner at Makalali Main Lodge 4*, Private Reserve in Standard room.
Day 8 to 9: Makalali & Johannesburg
DAY 8: MAKALAI - JOHANNESBURG
Morning safari in 4X4 vehicle. Breakfast. Travel to Johannesburg.

Visit Dullstroom, a historic village known for its trout fishing and its antique shops.

DAY 9: JOHANNESBURG - DEPARTURE

Included Johannesburg and Soweto Excursion (Half-day, group tour)
Discover the vibrant Johannesburg centre and the Newtown district, showcasing street art and urban renewal. Visit the Hector Pieterson Museum and Memorial, named after a 12-year-old boy who was shot by the police during the student riots of 1976. Opened in 2002, the museum traces the events that led to the riots and, according to some historians, the beginning of the collapse of apartheid.
Return your rental vehicle at O.R. Tambo Airport.
