Your Itinerary In Detail

Day 1: Windhoek

An English-speaking tour consultant will meet you at Windhoek’s International Airport. They will assist you with the rental vehicle formalities and provide you with your Deluxe Travel Planner. Travel to Windhoek, the administrative capital of Namibia.

Windhoek, the administrative, judicial and economic capital is also the heart of Namibia. The city has kept a very important Germanic imprint that can be seen in the streets and avenues, mainly in the architecture. Windhoek offers a friendly atmosphere with its modern hotels and welcoming guesthouses. You will find a diverse mix of cultures that represents the image of Namibia today. Small in comparison to other African megacities, Windhoek is surprisingly clean, quiet and provincial in character.

Overnight at The Elegant Guesthouse.

DAY 2: WINDHOEK - ERONGO MOUNTAINS (BREAKFAST AND DINNER)

Depart after breakfast and head towards Okahandja, a small town approximately 70 km north of Windhoek on the banks of the River Swakop and famous for its craft market specialising in wooden objects. Omaruru is your next destination, around 1.5 hours drive from Okahandja.

Dinner and overnight at The Erongo Wild.

DAY 3: ERONGO MOUNTAINS - SWAKOPMUND (BREAKFAST)

Begin your day with breakfast before heading to the village of San. Here, you will be introduced to the inhabitants' perfect knowledge of the local flora and fauna and their ancestral hunter-gatherer methods. Your next destination is Swakopmund, a town with an important historical past and the most popular resort on the Atlantic Ocean for Namibians. Built at the beginning of the German colonial period as a port, this charming town, built according to Germanic architectural references, has retained its unique character over time and through political changes.  The afternoon is at your leisure to explore the town.

Overnight at Namib Guesthouse.

DAY 4: SWAKOPMUND (BREAKFAST)

Optional Activity: Catamaran Cruise (additional fee)

Overnight at Namib Guesthouse.

Day 5: SWAKOPMUND - TWYFELFONTEIN (BREAKFAST AND DINNER)

After breakfast, set off for Damaraland. Located 60 km north of the coastal town of Henties Bay, Cape Cross is a nature reserve where you can see one of Namibia's most important sea lion colonies. This cape is also a significant place for human adventure! Here, the Portuguese explorer and sailor, Diaz, left a mark of his passage in the 15th century by erecting a cross which today has been reproduced in Granite. Please note that the reserve opens from 10 am to 5 pm.

Admire the magnificent Damaraland landscape as you leave, featuring inselbergs, isolated island-like rocks. As you approach Uis, you will see the highest mountain in the country, the Brandberg, which at 2,573 metres is home to Bushman paintings, the most famous being the White Lady.

Optional Activity: Twyfelfontein Safari (additional fee)

Dinner and overnight at Twyfelfontein Country Lodge.

DAY 6: TWYFELFONTEIN - SESFONTEIN (BREAKFAST)

Suggestion: Twyfelfontein: In the heart of Damaraland, this cave site with its hundreds of rock engravings is a must-see. Here, on a small red sandstone plateau at the foot of a spring that was probably once abundant, a people who have now disappeared have left an incredible bestiary engraved on the rock for future generations. Animals, also disappeared or still existing, various prints, abstract representations, are all witnesses of a great cave art. The visit is accompanied by a local English-speaking guide. The walk takes about 2.5 hours.

Take the beautiful scenic route to Sesfontein, via Palmwag. The afternoon is at your leisure.

Overnight at Sesfontein Guesthouse.

DAY 7: SESFONTEIN - EPUPA FALLS (BREAKFAST)

After breakfast, head toward Opuwo via the Joubert Pass. This thrilling track is recommended for 4x4 drive only as it crosses the Schwarze mountains. Opuwo is the Himbas capital, boasting an incredibly diverse population, where the modern world collides with tradition and ancestral customs.

You will start your journey northwards through Kaokoland to discover Epupa Falls on the Kunene River.

Suggestion: Discover Epupa Falls, located at the foot of the Zebra Mountains in northwestern Namibia, along the Kunene River. The Kunene River flows into a deep gorge with a jump of about 30 meters. The sight of this river with its many branches rushing through a narrow ravine is magnificent. This is a great area for hiking, mainly downstream of the falls.

Overnight at Omarunga Epupa Falls Camp in a Tented Chalet.

DAY 8: EPUPA FALLS

Begin your day with breakfast before setting of to the village of Himba.  The Himba people are concentrated mainly in the desert region of Kaokoland in northwestern Namibia. Traditional herders, the Himba People have taken advantage of the inaccessibility of their territory for decades to preserve their traditions. Now only a few thousand, these nomads are in constant search of new pastures, proud and beautiful. It may be possible to meet these nomads on the tracks of Kaokoland. The meeting is subject to certain moral rules of respect.

Optional Activity: Guided Walk Along the River Kunene (additional fee)

Overnight at Omarunga Epupa Falls Camp in a Tented Chalet.

DAY 9: EPUPA TO RUACANA (BREAFAST)

Head towards Ruacana after breakfast. Today, you will visit the traditional village of Ovambo in the afternoon and learn about it's fascinating inhabitants and their customs.

Overnight at Ruacana Eha Lodge.

DAY 10: RUACANA - ONGUMA PRIVATE RESERVE (BREAKFAST)

Drive to Oshakati and through the Ovamboland, the most populated region in the country. You will travel through Etosha National Park, via its north-eastern entrance through the King Nehale Gate.

Suggestion: The late afternoon is an active time for the animals of Etosha National Park. The heat and the scorching sun subside and the weather becomes milder. Life returns and the thirsty animals head for the various waterholes. A trip at this time is a magical moment as you seek out zebras, wildebeest, giraffes as they go in search of refreshment.

Overnight at Etosha King Nehale Lodge.

Optional Activity: Guided Safari in Etosha (additional fee)

Overnight at Taleni Etosha Village in a Luxury Room.

DAY 13: ETOSHA SOUTH - WINDHOEK (BREAKFAST)

Today you will drive to Otjiwarongo, via Outjo. Otjiwarongo (in Otji-Herero language it means 'beautiful place') is an agricultural town of over 20,000 inhabitants in northern Namibia, located in the Otjozondjupa region between Windhoek in the south and Etosha National Park in the north. It is also strategically located on the road that opens up the northern regions of Namibia. In 1904, the town was the site of the Herero revolt against German troops. In October the town becomes a real painting, with jacarandas, bougainvilleas and flamboyant trees in bloom.

Continue to Windhoek, situated at an altitude of 1650 m between the Aus Mountains in the south-east, the Eros Mountains in the north-east and the Komas Hochland in the north-west.

Overnight at The Elegant Guesthouse.
