Marrakech
Nestling at the foot of the High Atlas Mountains, within ancient city walls, surrounded by look-out towers and ramparts, Marrakech comprises a densely packed maze of narrow streets and alleyways. Djemaa el-Fna Square lies at the heart of the city, and where the Berber tribespeople come to sell their wares, and storytellers, acrobats, and entertainers attract the crowds.
Part Berber, part Arab, part African, Marrakech is the heartbeat of Morocco, where palaces and mountains sit alongside the snake charmers and Gnaoua drums pulsing constantly from the Jemaa el Fna Square - the most exuberant marketplace in the world. Known as "The Red City" for its rose-hued facades and medina walls, this exotic destination has much to offer to the discerning traveller.

The Todra Gorge, a place which will be explored during this tour, is a must-see for visitors to Tinghir and especially for mountaineering enthusiasts. you will also pass through famous towns such as Ouarzazate, also known as the gateway into the Sahara.

Your Itinerary —
Upon arrival in Marrakech, you will be met and greeted by your local representative, who will give you a welcome envelope with all the information regarding your stay. Then he will direct you to your vehicle for a transfer to your hotel.
During your stay in the city, you will compare the traditional countryside of Marrakech - a peaceful haven surrounded by large olive tree plantations and palm tree oases, with the traditional old city in the walled Medina & its narrow winding streets & souks. Marrakesh is a photographer’s paradise; you’ll have ample opportunity to seek out and capture the spirit of this vibrant city.
Today will depend on your arrival time. If you arrive on a late flight, your activities will be arranged over the next few days with your local representative. Take a romantic tour of Marrakech in the evening in a horse-drawn carriage through the old medina and royal palace, along to the main Jemaa el-Fnaa Square. Enjoy a refreshment in one of the roof terraces cafes overlooking the medina. You can also take some time to relax with an included Moroccan Hammam and body scrub. Dinner and overnight at Riad Jardin Des Rêves or similar.
Enjoy your first breakfast in Morocco. You will be picked up at approx. 9 am for a half day Marrakech Discovery Excursion.
Discover some of Marrakech's most historical landmarks as your knowledgeable guide enlightens you on the intrigue surrounding the city’s illustrious buildings. Visit the austere Koutoubia Mosque and its minaret – a beautifully proportioned example of Hispano-Mauresque art rising 80 metres (250 feet) into the sky. Discover the El Bahia Palace, a 19th-century building with a 2-acre garden and a haphazard arrangement of inner courtyards and well-designed rooms.
Visit of the museum Dar Si Said, built during the second half of the 19th century by order of Saïd Ben Moussa, then a minister under the reign of his brother Bahmad. This beautiful residence is the testimony of the local architecture of the end 19th century in Morocco. As of 1930, a museum and crafts workshops were installed. Today, the museum hosts masterpieces testifying to the folk art of Marrakesh and of the nearby Berber villages.
Drink (another) glass of mint tea on the way, see some craftsmen & visit a Berber apothecary to sample some spices or magic potions. You will then have free time at Djemaa Elfnaa Square and enjoy lunch in Restaurant Dar Nejjarine. Overnight at Riad Jardin Des Rêves or similar.
Enjoy breakfast at the Riad. At 10 am, set off for an excursion of the snow-capped Atlas Mountains, which serve as Marrakech's ever-present backdrop. Head out of the city by 4-wheel drive vehicle to begin your tour. Travelling through Morocco’s majestic countryside offers a welcome break from the hustle and bustle of Marrakech, and a rare glimpse into a more relaxed way of life in this magical part of the world. Your first stop will be a panoramic view of the lake “Lalla Takerkoust”.
Next, drive over the Kik Plateau (1800m), an unforgettable place with stunning views of the mountains and valleys and very popular with paragliders. Continue through Asni Village to Ouirgane, passing by amazing scenery changing from saffron-coloured fields to steeper slopes covered with oak and walnut trees and cut by river-filled gorges. Pass through the natural park of Takherkhourt and Marigha, see shepherds tending their flocks on isolated pastures, and catch glimpses of the tiny houses and immense boulders that dot the countryside.
Take in views of peaks that soar to nearly 10,000 feet (3,048 metres) while blending with a deep-blue sky and providing a contrast to the desolate mountainside. Take a traditional lunch at your leisure (not included), in a local restaurant overlooking amazing views of the Azzaden Mountain and the Ouirgane River before heading toward the mountain forests to your hotel. Dinner and overnight at Tatfi Hotel or similar.
After a late breakfast, your Mountain guide will take you for a short trek in the area of Ouirgane. Your walking experience begins as you meander towards the east through fields of corn and flowers. You will follow the river's course up and down small hills dotted with red juniper. Pass by isolated Berber hamlets until you reach the salt mines at Marigha.
The Berber people have been mining salt through their traditional method that is unchanged for centuries. You may see people riding from village to village, selling their salt from the back of their donkeys - you should also, depending on the time of day. You will be introduced to a local family who will welcome you into their own home. Enjoy a refreshment stop with an overview of lake Khemis Ouirgane. Enjoy the afternoon at leisure whether it be by the pool of your hotel or discovering the local area some more. Dinner and overnight at Tatfi Hotel or similar.
After a late breakfast at the hotel, return back to Marrakech. Today you will drive along the west High Atlas Mountains and valleys. Your first stop will be in the Col of Moulay Brahim, with a magnificent panorama of Jbel Toubkal (4,167 m) in Toubkal National Park, the highest range in North Africa. The range serves as a weather system barrier in Morocco running east-west and separating the Sahara from the Mediterranean and continental zones to the North and West. Continue down the road to Tahnaout, where the landscapes become progressively greener, before arriving in Marrakech. Check in to your Riad and enjoy the rest of the afternoon at your own leisure. Overnight at Riad Jardin Des Rêves or similar.
Day 6: Marrakech
For 5 nights stay
Enjoy your final breakfast at the hotel before taking your departure transfer to Marrakech airport for your flight home.
After breakfast, you will be picked up from your Riad for a visit to The Majorelle Gardens, one of the most visited sites in Morocco. It took French painter Jacques Majorelle forty years of passion and dedication to create this enchanting garden in the heart of the “Ochre City”.
Amble along shady lanes, in the midst of trees and exotic plants of dreamy origin; walking past refreshing burbling streams and pools filled with water lilies and lotus flowers. Stop as the path turns unexpectedly, revealing a building with Moorish charm and a hint of Art Deco, painted in astonishingly vibrant primary colours, glowing with an intense blue the artist perceived in the Atlas Mountains. The garden covers nearly two and a half acres. Marvel at the collections of cacti, exotic plants and trees that are landscaped to emphasise each one’s unique beauty. The paths allow you to see how the architectural style of the villa-studio, now transformed into a museum, is set off by vibrant colours dominated by its “Majorelle Blue”.
After breakfast at the Riad, you will have a day at leisure to discover the beautiful city of Marrakech. Why not spend some more time getting lost in the souks of the city, or visit The Menara botanical gardens? There is still plenty to uncover. Overnight at Riad Jardin Des Rêves or similar.
Day 8: Departure
You will enjoy your last breakfast at the hotel before taking your departure transfer to Marrakech Airport.
