Stari Grad, or Budva Old Town, is the jewel in the crown of the Riviera, a 15th-century citadel overlooking the bay and serving as a backdrop to theatre, art and music events throughout the summer. The architecture, painstakingly restored after a devastating 1979 earthquake, is in the Roman style of the Venetian Republic, and encompasses the honey-coloured Church of St Ivan and its Gothic bell tower. The Hotel Kalos 4* is just a short walk from the centre of Budva, so this is the perfect place for soaking up culture and relaxing!

Entry Requirements 

You must ensure you have a valid passport to travel on. 

If your passport describes you as a British Citizen, you do not need a visa to enter Montenegro. For non-British citizens, you should check the current entry requirements on the website of the Foreign Ministry and if necessary, confirm with the Montenegrin Embassy. 


Health

There is a reciprocal healthcare agreement for British nationals visiting Montenegro, which entitles you to free treatment for genuine emergencies. In order to exercise this right, you should present a British passport and some evidence of being insured in the UK to the office of the Health Fund of Montenegro and obtain a certificate. 

If vaccinations or other preventive measures are required, you will need to visit your health professional at least 8 weeks before your trip. In the event that you are referred to a medical facility for treatment, you should contact your insurance/medical assistance company immediately.

The minimum age for driving a hire car in Montenegro is 21 and drivers must have held a full driving licence for a least 1 year.

The lead name on the booking will be confirmed as the named driver.  The named driver must present a credit card in their name when collecting the car (credit cards in other names will not be accepted).

The named driver must also present a full valid driving licence on the collection of the vehicle and in some cases, a credit card or cash deposit will be required.
