RENTAL CONDITIONS

Upon arrival at the airport:

Upon arrival at Malta International Airport, please exit the arrivals hall through the main entrance (do not go to the coach parking area).

Once outside (opposite the large car park), turn right and head towards the covered car park, Park East (approximately 200 meters away).

The Aquarius Rent a Car office is located on level 1 of the Park East car park.

Insurance:

Standard insurance includes an excess of €800 for car rentals and €1,200 for minibus or convertible rentals in the event of an accident, theft, and/or damage. This amount is held on a standard credit card and is based on a pre-authorization.

Option 1: Customers can reduce the excess from €800 to €350 by paying a fee of €8.50 per day + 18% VAT. If you choose this option, €350 will be held on your credit card. Payment is made directly to the car rental company at the time of vehicle collection.

Option 2: Customers can reduce the excess from €800 to €0 by paying a fee of €14.75 per day + 18% VAT. If you choose this option, €150 will be held on your credit card in case of traffic violations or other incidents. The amount is held on a standard credit card and is based on a pre-authorization. Payment is made directly to the car rental company at the time of car rental.

Option 3: Customers can reduce the excess from €800 to €0 by paying €20.00 per day + 18% VAT, which also includes wheels and windows. If you choose this option, €150 will be held on your credit or debit card in case of traffic violations or other incidents. Payment is made directly to the car rental company at the time of vehicle pick-up.

Standard car rental includes the following:

1. Third-party car insurance
2. Comprehensive insurance, but with an excess of €800 / €1,200 (the excess amount depends on the additional cost for excess waiver).
3. Local VAT
4. 24-hour English-speaking telephone assistance
5. Unlimited mileage
6. 24-hour roadside assistance

Optional extras (to be paid directly to the car rental company at the time of pick-up):

• Child seat: €7.00 per day + 18% VAT. If you require a child seat, please specify the child's age and weight at the time of booking.
• GPS: €10.00 per day + 18% VAT. The device can be booked at the time of pick-up.
• Additional driver: €5.00 per day per driver + 18% VAT. The additional driver can be added at the time of pick-up. All drivers must hold a valid driving license.
• Young driver or senior driver: €8.50 per day per driver + 18% VAT. Mandatory for all drivers aged 21-24 and 70-74.

Delivery and/or collection at the hotel:

Surcharge for delivery and/or collection of the vehicle at a hotel address. The hotel delivery address must be provided at the time of booking.

€20 per trip + 18% VAT for deliveries/collections in Malta.

Credit card and deposit:

A credit card in the name of the main driver is required for each rental. If you only have a debit card, you must purchase the excess waiver option 3. The deductible amount will be charged/blocked on your credit card as a pre-authorization. If you choose option 1, €350 will be charged/blocked on your credit card. If you choose option 2 or 3, €150 will still be charged to your credit card as a security deposit to cover any fines or similar charges incurred during the rental period or for missing fuel.

The corresponding amounts will no longer be available to customers after the pre-authorization and, depending on the customer's bank, it may take up to 20 business days before they are released again.

We are not responsible for insufficient funds or bank charges associated with this procedure. If the customer does not have sufficient funds on their credit card to cover the deductible, the deductible option and Extra Cover insurance are mandatory. Electronic cards, virtual cards, and American Express cards are not accepted.

Driving Licence Guidelines:

A valid driving licence in the name of the main driver, held for at least one year, is required. An international driving permit and a personal driving licence are also required if the customer is renting a vehicle outside the country where their personal driving licence was issued or if their driving licence is not written in the Roman alphabet. Customers should always check the validity of their driving licence before travelling to Malta.

Vehicle Return Grace Period:

Rental days are calculated over a 24-hour period, starting from the time of vehicle pick-up. A 30-minute grace period is granted. If the vehicle is not returned at the agreed time, a surcharge of €25 per hour will be charged after the 30-minute grace period.

Border Crossing Guidelines:

The car is insured for driving in Malta and Gozo, the two main islands. The car cannot be driven outside these two islands.

Early Vehicle Return:

The rental is based on a 24-hour period. Unused days will not be refunded.

Cancellation and Refund Policy:

Free cancellation up to 72 hours before the start of the rental period.

MaltaNext's Responsibility

MaltaNext (hereinafter referred to as "the Provider") shall not be liable for any accidents, injuries, or problems resulting from the actions or omissions of the client, supplier, or contracting party (hereinafter collectively referred to as "the Parties"). The Provider shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages incurred by the Parties, including, but not limited to, loss of profits, business interruption, or loss of data, arising out of or in connection with the services provided by the Provider. This limitation of liability shall apply regardless of the cause of action, including negligence, strict liability, or breach of contract.

If you book a package that includes flights, your contract will be with Voyage Privé. The air holiday package(s) shown are ATOL protected by the Civil Aviation Authority. Our ATOL number is 10170.

If you book a package that does not include flights, then ATOL protection does not apply. Your contract will be with the provider of the accommodation and not Voyage Privé. Voyage Privé acts only as an agent for the accommodation provider.
