Your destinations —
Kenya
Kenya invites you to discover its unparalleled landscapes, where breathtaking safaris and serene beaches offer a perfect balance of adventure and relaxation. From its lush savannahs to the golden coastline, Kenya presents an exceptional destination that captures the essence of East Africa.
Must-sees:
- Masai Mara National Reserve: Witness the spectacle of the Great Migration and encounter the Big Five.
- Lamu Island: Explore this UNESCO-listed coastal gem with its rich Swahili culture and preserved ancient architecture.
- Mount Kenya: A must for adventure seekers, offering scenic treks and opportunities for mountaineering at Africa's second-highest peak.
Culinary culture:
Kenya’s culinary scene is as diverse as its landscapes, with influences from African, Indian, and Middle Eastern cuisines. The streets of Nairobi serve up dishes such as nyama choma (grilled meat) and sukuma (collard greens), offering a rich tapestry of flavours. Fresh seafood, especially along the coastline, and the famous Swahili dishes, including ugali and samosas, reflect Kenya's multicultural influences. Don't miss out on a traditional Kenyan breakfast, which often features mandazi (sweet doughnuts) and chai.
Dive deeper:
To truly understand Kenya, visit its vibrant cultural hubs. In Nairobi, immerse yourself in the Karen Blixen Museum, which offers insight into the colonial history of the country. For a deeper connection with local traditions, head to the Maasai villages, where you can experience the customs, music, and dances of one of Kenya’s most iconic tribes.
Good to know:
The local currency is the Kenyan Shilling (KES). The best time to visit Kenya is during the dry seasons, from June to October and January to February, when safaris are at their peak. Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO) connects well with major global hubs, making it easy to access this extraordinary destination.
