Your Itinerary In Detail

Day 1: Friday - Amman

Welcome at Queen Alia International Airport and transfer to the hotel in Amman. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 02, Saturday - Free Day in Amman
After breakfast, free day in Amman, spend the day in Amman by itself. Return to the hotel. Dinner & overnight.

Day 3: Sunday - Amman & Desert Castles
After breakfast, departure for the Desert Castles / Lunch. The first castle visited is Qasr Al-Kharaneh, located 55 km from Amman. It is probably the only one that had a military function, as its architecture suggests. However, for some scholars, the size of the stables suggests a caravanserai. Qasr Amra is located 26 km southwest of Azraq, on the main road. Qasr Amra occupies an island that was formed in the bed of a Wadi that is almost always dry. This small, well-preserved castle has clean lines and rounded contours, its blonde stone blending into the desert heat.

Qasr Amra was built at the beginning of the 8th century by the Caliph Walid I, a great lover of hunting, poetry and other pleasures. Qasr Al Azraq was badly affected by an earthquake in 1927, but the castle remains magnificent. The inscription above the main entrance dates the renovation to the 13th century, when the mosque in the centre of the courtyard was probably built.

Return to Amman for a visit of the capital of the Hashemite kingdom. Between the eastern desert and the Jordan Valley, Amman is home to a good million inhabitants. Built entirely of beige white limestone, the city is an aggregate of cream-coloured cubes, gilded by the sun. From the top of the citadel, don't miss the superb view over the lower city. But before going down there, a visit to the Archaeological Museum, the Temple of Hercules and the Umayyad Palace is a must. Afterwards, a short tour of the lower city, which has preserved a beautiful Greco-Roman theatre, which can accommodate about six thousand spectators. Return to the hotel. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Monday - Jerash & Ajloun

Breakfast at the hotel and departure to Jerash / Lunch.

In the morning departure to the ancient city of Jerash or Gerasa about 45 km from Amman. It is the second major site in Jordan after Petra. Today, it is considered one of the best preserved Roman provincial cities in the Near East. Hidden under the sand for several centuries before being discovered and restored over 70 years. The city was built entirely of pinkish-orange limestone, magnified by the sun's rays at dawn and sunset. The heyday of Gerasa was in the 2nd and 3rd centuries.

Jerash is the epitome of Roman municipal planning, extensive and formal, throughout the Middle East. It is adorned with cobbled, colonnaded streets, huge hilltop temples, delightful theatres, spacious public squares, baths, fountains and walls pierced by towers and gates. After lunch, continue to Ajloun this town has a very impressive Fortress (Qalaat al Rabad), nestled on top of a mountain, built in the 12th century, at the time of Saladin, to defend the area and control the local iron mines as well as to prevent the Crusaders from crossing to Jerusalem. From the top, a superb view over the Jordan Valley.

Return to Amman. Dinner & overnight at the hotel.

Day 5: Tuesday - Iraq El Amir, Dead Sea & Amman
Breakfast at the hotel and departure to the west of Amman to Iraq El Amir and its Hellenistic castle Qasr El Abed (2nd century BC). The castle is an amazing construction, with different inspirations: Greek, Asian, with the appearance of a Roman palace.

Drive to the Dead Sea/ Lunch for a swim and an unforgettable experience. Its special climate makes it an exceptional resort. The Greeks called it the "Asphaltite Lake", the Muslims the "Stinking Lake", the Hebrews the "Sea of Salt" or the "Sea of Lot".

75 km long and 15 km wide, the Dead Sea covers an area of 920 km2, which is almost twice the size of Lake Geneva. The maximum depth of the Dead Sea is 399 m. The lower level of the Jordan Depression is therefore 410 m below sea level and as such, it represents the lowest point on earth. Dinner & overnight at the hotel.

Day 6: Wednesday - Kings' Road, Madaba, Nebo, Kerak & Petra

Breakfast at the hotel and depart for Kings' Road to visit Madaba. Also called the city of mosaics, this Byzantine bishopric has 14 churches of major artistic value, which also housed an extraordinary school of mosaicists. You will discover the Church of St. George in Madaba with its map of Palestine unearthed in 1898 during the construction of the church. This mosaic from the middle of the 6th century, barely altered, traces the geography of the Byzantine Near East.

Then you will visit Mount Nebo, 10 km northwest of Madaba. Moses left the plains of Moab and climbed to the top of Mount Nebo. At an altitude of 840m, the mountain became a place of universal pilgrimage from the beginning of the Christian era.

Before leaving this city, you will have a short visit to one of the mosaic workshops. You will then continue to the city of Kerak and have lunch.

Then visit the Crusader fortress built around 1140 under the direction of Payen the Beller, the Crusaders called it the Krak of the Moabites. The fortress is located on the south side of a rocky plateau and is a fine example of Crusader architecture mixing European, Byzantine and Arab styles. Continue to Petra via the desert road. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 7: Thursday - Petra the Rose & Wadi Rum

Breakfast at the hotel and departure for a full day tour of Petra / Lunch. The pink city "Petra", "the stone" in Greek, derives from the Aramaic toponym "RQM" pronounced "Rekem" or "Rakmou", which means "two-coloured". Geology is indeed at the origin of the red city, entirely carved in a soft sandstone. Man, who has been present here for about ten thousand years, completed the appearance of the site between the 3rd century BC and the 2nd century AD: in total, nearly 800 monuments, mostly tombs, are scattered over 100 km2 of Petra. The eighth wonder of the world and declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, it is the most famous site in Jordan and even in the Middle East.

You will cross the Siq, a narrow and long fault line caused by a prehistoric earthquake. At the end of the Siq, the most majestic monument of Petra, "Al Khazneh" or the "Treasure" with its Greco-Roman decoration, suddenly appears. What a dazzling sight... Beyond the Treasury, there are hundreds of sculpted buildings, temples, royal tombs, houses, burial chambers, festival halls, baths, monumental staircases, arched doorways, cobbled streets and above all, the Roman Theatre with its 3000 seats.

You will cross the Roman Cardo and visit the Qasr El Bint, the only temple still standing and in a good state of conservation. Lunch at the site's restaurant.

In the afternoon, climb to Mount El Deir or the Monastery (optional), just 2 hours drive south of Petra, a unique experience in the most beautiful place in the world, Wadi Rum is one of the most beautiful deserts in the world, filled with magnificent pink sandstone mountains, canyons and dunes. Wadi Rum's "overnight" experience is unlike any other! Where you can also experience the joy of sleeping under the stars and sampling food that reflects true Bedouin generosity and local hospitality. Dinner & overnight stay.

Day 8: Friday - Wadi Rum & departure transfer via Q.AIA Airport
Breakfast -  Continue to Wadi Rum, Jordan’s vast and echoing desert, for a 4x4 ride in the desert (about an hour and a half).

Stunning in its natural beauty, Wadi Rum epitomises the romance of the desert. With its "moonscape" of ancient valleys and towering sandstone mountains rising out of the sand, Wadi Rum is also home to several Bedouin tribes who live in scattered camps throughout the area. Climbers are especially attracted to Wadi Rum because of its sheer granite and sandstone cliffs, while hikers enjoy its vast empty spaces.

Your Destination

Amman, Petra & Dead Sea

Full to the brim with epic scenery, ancient history, captivating cities and bucketlist attractions, Jordan is a popular tourist destination that offers its guests a true immersion into the charms of the Middle East.

While Jordan offers a variety of spectacular UNESCO World Heritage Sites, none are more beloved than Petra, a fascinating archaeological city that sits within a mountain gorge and features beautiful 'rose-tinted' stone. Frequently referred to as one of the seven new Wonders of the World, this architectural masterpiece is a must-stop spot on any tourist's itinerary in Jordan

For those hoping to escape the arid climate of the desert, we recommend taking advantage of Jordan's coastline with a visit to the Dead Sea. Thanks to the incredibly high salt quantities in the water, here, you can float atop the waves, make the most of the natural minerals and their healing properties and enjoy a well deserved rest, away from the hustle and bustle of daily life!
