Days 3 & 4
DAY 3: AMMAN ⇄ JERASH
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Depart for the ancient city of Jerash, the second-largest archaeological site in Jordan after Petra and one of the best-preserved Roman cities in the Near East. Hidden beneath the sand for centuries, it was rediscovered and painstakingly restored over a period of 70 years. Built entirely from warm pink-orange limestone, the city glows beautifully at sunrise and sunset.
- Explore Jerash’s remarkable treasures, including its collonaded streets, grand temples and theatres, baths, fountains, and imposing city walls.
- Return to Amman for a walk revealing the secrets of the Jordanian capital. Built across seven hills between the desert and the fertile Jordan Valley, Amman takes its name from the Ammonites, descendants of Abraham. From its vast hillside, you’ll enjoy splendid views over the city and its historic core, including the citadel and Roman acropolis.
- Traditional farewell dinner in a local restaurant to savour the delights of Jordanian cuisine.
Full board & overnight in Jerash.
DAY 4: AMMAN → KINGS ROAD → MADABA → MOUNT NEBO → KERAK → PETRA
- Breakfast at the hotel, then depart along the King’s Highway towards Madaba, known as the City of Mosaics. This former Byzantine bishopric is home to 14 churches of significant artistic value and once hosted an extraordinary school of master mosaicists.
- Discover St George’s Church, where you’ll admire the famous mosaic map of Palestine, uncovered in 1898 during the church’s construction.
- Continue to Mount Nebo, located 10 km north-west of Madaba. From the plains of Moab, Moses climbed to the summit of this 840-metre-high mountain, which has been a major Christian pilgrimage site since the early centuries of the faith.
- Before leaving Madaba, enjoy a brief visit to one of the city’s renowned mosaic workshops.
- Continue to Karak.
- Visit the impressive Crusader fortress, built around 1140 under the direction of Payen the Butler. Known to the Crusaders as the Krak of the Moabites, this stronghold dominates the southern edge of a rocky plateau and showcases a fascinating blend of European, Byzantine, and Arab architectural styles.
- Continue to Petra via the Desert Highway.
Full board & overnight in Petra.
Days 5 to 10
DAY 5: PETRA
- Breakfast at the hotel, followed by a full day dedicated to exploring Petra, the legendary Rose-Red City. Recognised as the Eighth Wonder of the World and listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Petra is Jordan’s—and the Middle East’s—most iconic archaeological treasure.
- Walk through the Siq, a narrow, winding gorge formed by a prehistoric earthquake. At its end, Petra’s most magnificent monument suddenly appears: Al-Khazneh, or The Treasury, adorned with striking Greco-Roman façades.
- Beyond the Treasury lies a breathtaking ancient city filled with carved structures: temples, royal tombs, baths, arched gateways, paved streets, and the impressive Roman Theatre, which once seated around 3,000 spectators.
- Continue along the Roman Cardo and visit Qasr Al-Bint, the only free-standing temple in Petra, remarkably well preserved.
- Lunch included at the on-site restaurant.
- Afternoon at leisure, with the opportunity (depending on your fitness level) to climb to the Monastery (El Deir), one of Petra’s most awe-inspiring masterpieces.
Full board & overnight in Petra.
DAY 6: PETRA → LITTLE PETRA → WADI RUM
- Breakfast at the hotel, then departure for Little Petra, a final opportunity to admire this magnificent and lesser-known Nabataean site.
- Continue towards the awe-inspiring Wadi Rum Desert. If Petra reflects the combined artistry of nature and humankind, Wadi Rum’s cliffs, rock towers, and sweeping valleys owe their serene beauty and overwhelming grandeur solely to nature itself. Described by T. E. Lawrence as “vast, echoing and god-like,” the desert was one of the key settings of the Great Arab Revolt and was immortalised by David Lean in Lawrence of Arabia.
- Lunch in a Bedouin camp, where you will discover traditional hospitality and the flavours of authentic Bedouin cuisine.
- In the afternoon, set off on a 4x4 pickup tour to explore the timeless landscapes of this millennia-old desert, taking in its iconic formations and cinematic horizons.
Full board & overnight in Wadi Rum.
- Breakfast in Wadi Rum, then departure for Aqaba, Jordan’s splendid Red Sea resort. Bathed in sunshine year-round, this coastal city is a haven for relaxation, offering shimmering waters, golden beaches, and a serene marine panorama. With the Red Sea as its greatest treasure, Aqaba is the perfect place to unwind after your desert adventures.
- Lunch at leisure and the rest of the day free. Enjoy the hotel’s facilities, explore the city at your own pace, or browse the local shops.
Optional excursion: 4-hour yacht excursion in Aqaba, including lunch.
Half board & overnight in Aqaba.
DAY 8: AQABA → DEAD SEA
- Departure for the Dead Sea, the lowest point on Earth at 417 metres below sea level, is renowned for its rich natural salt deposits.
- Its mineral-rich waters are famed for their therapeutic properties and are famous for allowing people to float effortlessly due to the high salt concentration.
- This is not just a sightseeing stop, but a relaxing experience, giving you the chance to bathe in these extraordinary waters.
- Lunch at the lowest point on the planet.
Full board & overnight at the Dead Sea.
DAY 9: DEAD SEA
- Breakfast, lunch, and dinner at the Dead Sea hotel.
- Enjoy the hotel’s facilities at your leisure.
