Surrounded by green Tuscan hills, this low-rise hotel dates from the early 20th century. The simple, elegant rooms have free WiFi, flat-screen TVs with satellite channels, minibars and terraces overlooking the luscious garden. In the wonderful Piazza Duomo, in front of the village church, you can take in the medieval architecture of the old Palazzo del Podestà and the Palazzo Comunale. Rich in history, San Gimignano is also famous for its towers, with fourteen still existing today, providing a view that is like an olden-day Manhattan skyline.
