Culinary culture:
Val d'Aoste’s culinary offerings are as rich as its history. Local delicacies such as Fontina cheese, renowned for its creamy texture, and polenta, a hearty dish, form the foundation of the region’s cuisine. The use of high-altitude herbs and mountain meats, often served in rustic stews, reflects the area's agrarian roots and offers a taste of authentic Alpine life. For dessert, try Tarte de Miele, a honey-based pastry.
Dive deeper:
Beyond the popular attractions, Val d'Aoste offers a wealth of hidden treasures. Explore lesser-known sites like the Roman Theatre of Aosta and the Sant’Orso Abbey, or indulge in a relaxing soak in the Thermal Baths of Pré-Saint-Didier. The valley’s vibrant local culture is celebrated through festivals such as Fête de la Saint-Ours, where traditional music and dance bring the history of the region to life.
