Your Itinerary In Detail —
Days 1-3: Palermo & Monreale
Day 1: Palermo Airport - Hotel
Arrival at Palermo airport, transfer to hotel, dinner and overnight stay.
Please note: to enjoy dinner (excluding drinks) you must arrive at the hotel by 20:30.
Day 2: At leisure
Day 3: Palermo and Monreale (Tuesday)
Departure from the hotel for Palermo at 07h30. Arrival in Palermo at around 09h00.
It is the meeting point of the two main arteries of Palermo's historic centre and the baroque heart of the city.
After an explanation of the symbolic significance of the square and the twelve splendid statues that decorate it, we will continue on to Piazza Pretoria to admire the magnificent fountain in white Tuscan marble, adorned with more than forty statues, and the façade of the Palazzo delle Aquile, the seat of the City Hall.
Following the narrow streets behind the cathedral, you will reach the Capo market, an ancient food market with a unique atmosphere.
After sampling some street food, depart for Monreale and meet with a local guide.
Visit the beautiful Cathedral of Monreale, an architectural masterpiece from the Norman period, in which expressions of Islamic, Byzantine and Romanesque culture come together to create one of the highest creations of the Italian Middle Ages. The walls of the aisles, sanctuary and apses are all covered in golden mosaics, such as the colossal half-length figure of Christ Pantocrator.
Choose to make an optional visit to the cathedral's cloister.
Return to the hotel in the afternoon (departure time varies depending on pick-up location).
Days 4-6: Lipari and Vulcano
Transfer by coach from the hotel to the port of Capo d'Orlando (departure at 09h15).
Arrive in Lipari at around 10h15 and enjoy free time on the island.
Lipari is the largest of the islands, known as 'The 7 Sisters'. The contrast between the breathtaking blue of the sea with the two famous chimneys, Petra Lunga and Petra Menalda, and the white of the pumice mountains is enchanting. The historical centre of the island is picturesque, with the acropolis, on which the town hall stands.
Don't miss the castle, the cathedral of San Bartolomeo, the archaeological park and the Luigi Bernabò Brea Regional Archaeological Museum.
Departure from Lipari at approximately 13h15. Arrival at Vulcano at approximately 13h30 and enjoy free time on the island.
Vulcano is considered 'the island of relaxation and wellbeing', thanks to the therapeutic properties of its natural sulphurous mud.
It owes its name to volcanic phenomena such as fumaroles and the jets of steam visible from land and water. It is impossible to resist a dip in the black beaches or the suggestive scenery of the ascent to the Gran Cratere.
Departure around 16h30 and arrival in Capo d'Orlando at 17h45.
Transfer to the hotel, dinner, and overnight stay.
Day 5: At leisure
Breakfast, dinner and overnight stay.
Day 6: Hotel - Palermo Airport
Breakfast (depending on transfer time).
Departure from the hotel for Palermo airport.
Note: If you choose the 7-night package, days 5 to 7 will be free, and you will depart on Day 8.
