Your Itinerary In Detail —
Day 1: Arrival
Arrival at Palermo (or Trapani) airport and private transfer to Trapani port. Departure by hydrofoil for Favignana. Shared transfer to your hotel. Accommodation in hotel/residence and overnight stay.
DAY 2: FAVIGNANA and TOUR OF THE ISLAND BY TRAIN
Breakfast at the hotel. The day is at your disposal for an initial visit to Favignana, the largest of the Egadi Islands, called Aegusa by the Greeks, which takes its current name from the Favonio wind. The village, all gathered around the port, preserves buildings of considerable interest, such as the splendid Tonnara Florio and some baroque churches. Entirely accessible by bicycle thanks to its mainly flat terrain, the island is dotted with coves and splendid caves washed by a turquoise and uncontaminated sea. To discover the most enchanting views of the island in an original way, you will take a tour of Favignana on a tourist train (stops along the way - departure from the port / duration approximately 45 minutes). Dinner is at your leisure. Overnight in hotel/residence.
DAY 3: FAVIGNANA / LEVANZO AND MINICRUISE BOAT CRUISEBACK
Breakfast at the hotel. Departure from the port of Favignana (departure at about 12.00pm) by shared tourist boat for an exciting mini-cruise that will lead you to the discovery of Favignana "from the sea", with its beautiful caves and coves, the majestic spurs of rock, secluded beaches and famous coves from the turquoise sea as Cala Rossa. After the stops for swimming and a tasty maccheronata on board, in the afternoon you will land in Levanzo, for the visit of the small fishing village surrounded by the deep blue sea. During the stop on the island, you can taste the excellent granitas or the famous homemade ice cream. Departing from Levanzo, you will sail along the Faraglione and the most beautiful coves, such as Cala Fredda and Cala Minnola, where you will make another stop for a dip in the sea. You will then head back to the port of Favignana in the late afternoon. Dinner is at your leisure and overnight stay in hotel/residence.
Day 4: Favignana between coves and turquoise sea
Breakfast at the hotel. A day at leisure to enjoy the pristine sea of Favignana. Favignana is home to Europe's largest Marine Protected Area, where extensive shoals of posidonia provide a habitat for numerous fish species. Its seabed, populated by cetaceans, Caretta Caretta sea turtles and the extremely rare Monk Seal, attracts tourists and diving enthusiasts from all over the world every year. We suggest an excursion to Cala Rossa, a splendid rocky bay with a thousand shades of red that opens onto a turquoise sea. Due to the difficulty of access and the rocky cliffs, the bay is not suitable for children. Dinner is at your leisure and overnight stay in hotel/residence.
DAY 5: FAVIGNANA / MARETTIMO and MINICRUISE BOAT TRIP
Breakfast at the hotel. Departure from the port of Favignana (departure at about 10.30 am) by shared tourist boat that will take you to discover Marettimo. Once at the port, you will have free time to visit the town and take a swim in the cove not far from the port. The mini-cruise will continue along the coast of the island, stopping in the most beautiful coves, where it will be possible to take a dip. Lunch will follow on board with penne al pesto alla Trapanese, bread, water, wine and seasonal fruit. You will then return to the ship, circumnavigating the island and visiting the main sea caves. This will be followed by another stop in a cove for a refreshing swim. You will then return to Favignana in the late afternoon. Dinner is at your leisure and overnight stay in hotel/residence.
DAY 6: FAVIGNANA SEA AND RELAX - OPTIONAL EXCURSION (with additional fee) TO THE GENOVESE CAVE
Breakfast at the hotel. The day is at your disposal to relax in the sun or enjoy the perfect sea of the island with an optional boat excursion to the Grotte del Bue marino and the numerous coves of the island (boat or rubber dinghy hire from 60 EUR per person to be paid on site). Alternatively, we suggest the optional boat excursion to the famous Grotta del Genovese, on the island of Levanzo, which can be reached by boat (maximum 12 passengers, not for exclusive use) or by jeep (maximum 8 passengers, with a path of about 700 m to enter the cave). The cave is one of the most interesting prehistoric sites in the world and preserves beautiful wall art and decorations dating back to about 15,000 years ago (a reservation is required at least 1 day in advance - cost per person 35 EUR - transfer and hydrofoil not included - to be paid locally). Dinner is at your leisure and overnight stay in hotel/residence.
DAY 7: FAVIGNANA and THE ANCIENT TUNA FISHING and THE FLORIO TUNNARA
Breakfast at the hotel. The day is at your disposal. We suggest an exciting visit to the former Florio factory, an ancient tuna fishery, one of the largest in the Mediterranean. It was here that Ignazio Florio, at the end of the 19th century, created the revolutionary method of preserving tuna, building the annexed factory which today houses a very interesting museum dedicated to traditional tuna fishing, the "mattanza". It also houses important archaeological finds from the archipelago, some of which date back to the Battle of the Egadi (241 BC), the final act of the First Punic War (transfer and entrance fees not included). Dinner is at your leisure and overnight stay in hotel/residence.
DAY 8: FAVIGNANA / TRAPANI / PALERMO
Breakfast at the hotel. Shared transfer (passengers/luggage*) to the port of Favignana. Departure by hydrofoil to Trapani and private transfer to Palermo airport (or Trapani) in time for departure. End of services.
Excursions are subject to weather/sea conditions. The order could be modified.
