Your Destination —
This cruise offers much to admire, and you're certain to have a truly memorable time.
Situated in the province of Rome, this sea port on the Tyrrhenian Sea, is known as the 'ancient town' and welcomes visitors with its 2 piers and lighthouse. With characteristic annual festivals and celebrations of its long history, Civitavecchia makes for the perfect stop to see a thriving Italian town and to sample the highly-celebrated local swordfish delicacy.
Sicily
Sicily is delightfully untamed and is resplendent with culture and history. It is an ideal place for nature lovers, with a beautiful coastline characterised by red dunes.
With an unsurpassed collection of original Baroque architecture, fortified city walls overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, and the spectacular Co-Cathedral of St John, which features intricately carved stone vaults and a famed painting by Caravaggio, it is no wonder that this smallest of European capital cities is a world heritage site.
Sardinia
Sardinia is often love at first sight to its new visitors and for good reason. Here you will find some of the dreamiest beaches on European shores. Imagine sheer craggy-cliffs plummeting into deep emerald waters below, strewn with magnificent flowers and cradled by shimmering sands below; this is the exquisite island of Sardinia.
Cagliari is the capital, built on seven hills and located in the heart of the Bay of Angels. Here, the city's subtle pulsing energy runs through its leafy boulevards, grand arcades and thriving piazzas. Take a trip to Poetto Beach, Cagliari's most popular and highly regarded beach, a favourite hangout of the locals with its lively nightlife home to a glut of restaurants and bars on the waterfront.
A stretch of coast wedged between the blue of the sky and the sea, complete with a string of spectacular little towns and ancient fishing villages welded like limpets to the rocks. It is the unforgettable Amalfi Coast. Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Amalfi Coast cannot be described with simple words. You need to see it with your own eyes, and after that you will still dream of it. Wide, crystal clear, wonderfully blue. That's the Amalfi & Positano Sea, where the two Gulfs of Salerno and Naples join and mix with each other.
Each town is like a wide balcony bathed in bright sunshine, with blooming gardens that wind down to the road and that frame the pearls of the Amalfi Coast. The whole way from Vietri sul Mare to the Sorrento Peninsula is studded with precious little pearls. At every turn you will find a new landscape, a new emotion, a new open-air museum full of history and splendour.

Your Ship —
It’s easy to see the influence of Star Clippers’ heritage - the gleaming teak and shining brasswork proudly waves the flag for tradition, whilst the elegant piano bar, sizeable cabins and fantastic food indulges the need for modern luxuries.
Doing away with the rigid schedules or clothing and dining restrictions of many modern large cruises, you will feel relaxed and liberated on board this unique vessel.
Star Flyer was built in 1991 for Star Clippers as a four-masted, 170-passenger, tall clipper ship, technically a square-rigged barquentine. The ship currently ranks, along with its sister Star Clipper, as the loftiest tall ship in the world, with a mast that rises 226 feet high. Both ships, along with their bigger sibling, Royal Clipper, and a further ship under construction, are the realization of a childhood dream of Swedish entrepreneur Mikael Krafft, and apart from the German-owned Sea Cloud ships, are the only authentic square riggers in the world offering a comfortable cruising experience (as opposed to the many sail training tall ships, where you sleep in bunks and have to sail the ship).
This is the point of Star Clippers: you don't have to do any work at all, although you can play sailor by hauling on the ropes every now and then with the crew, or climbing the mast, under supervision.Sailing on Star Flyer is like stepping back in time to a golden era when clipper ships ruled the waves.
The unfurling of the sails, to the stirring "Conquest of Paradise" by Vangelis, is a highlight of each day, and passengers can live out their nautical fantasies by climbing the mast or sunning in the widow's net hanging off the bow of the ship.
