Your itinerary in detail —
Lake Como
Start your holiday at Lake Como, a stunning stretch of water where you will find Villa Del Balbianello with its lush gardens and impressive views.
Another must-see is Villa Monastero, which boasts a beautiful botanical garden that stretches for kilometres along the lake shore. Also not to be missed is a visit to Brunate, a village located high above Como's historic centre, accessible by a cable car.
You will also get to go to ‘Carozzi Formaggi’, a local dairy, whilst you are here, where you can sample several unique cheeses.
Lake Iseo
Enjoy the peace and quiet of the lesser-known Lake Iseo. Here, Monte Isola stands tall in the middle of the lake, making it the largest island in a freshwater lake in Europe and definitely worth a visit.
From Sulzano, take the ferry across and climb to the top for stunning views over the lake and the mountains in the distance. Then stroll through the streets of atmospheric towns like Loverne and Sarnico, where you can sit on a terrace and enjoy an Italian aperitif.
For those curious about the culture and history of the area, there are ancient churches, castles and atmospheric markets to discover, as well as a host of watersports like sailing, windsurfing or kayaking for outdoor adventurers.
Lake Garda
The last destination of your trip is Lake Garda, Italy's largest lake. To the north lies Riva del Garda, a picturesque village with an old town centre and a 13th-century watchtower, Torre Apponale. A little further on, you'll find the spectacular Varone waterfall, hidden in a deep gorge.
On the eastern shore, you are greeted by the colourful houses of Malcesine, one of the most picturesque lakeside towns. From here, you can take a cable car to the top of Monte Baldo.
Sirmione is home to the impressive Castello Scaligero that overlooks the lake and the Grotto di Catullo, ruins of a Roman villa, set amongst lush olive trees. During your visit to this history-rich village, enjoy a boat trip around the peninsula.

Your Destination
Often referred to as the ‘Italian Lake District’, Lombardy is a varied region filled with stylish cities, stunning countryside, and breathtaking mountains. As Lombardy is located in the north of Italy, hugging the border with Switzerland, visitors to this region might be tempted to congregate in Milan, its capital. However, when leaving the city, there is so much to be found in the mountainous regions to the north.
Between Lake Como, Lake Maggiore, and Lake Garda there are a wealth of options for a lakeside break. In the shadow of the snow-covered Rhaetian Alps, Lake Como is home to sumptuous villas with cascading, luscious gardens, while a trip to Lake Maggiore offers unforgettable views of the tranquil Borromean Islands. On the shores of Lake Garda, Gardone Riviera is a laid-back tourist resort with a charming promenade and plenty of opportunities to take a pleasure cruise across the lake.
If you’re hankering for a city trip, Milan offers it all - the birthplace of some of the world’s foremost fashion houses and home to a stunning Gothic Cathedral. Don’t miss the chance to see Leonardo da Vinci’s iconic mural The Last Supper, housed in the Convent of Santa Maria delle Grazie in the city.
