Once you have reached La Spezia railway station, depart by train to Riomaggiore, arrive after about 8 minutes and visit the village. Then head to Manarola by train and visit the town. After the visit, transfer by train to Vernazza - certainly the most scenic and characteristic of the Cinque Terre. After the visit, transfer by train to Monterosso al mare; we recommend a visit to the Convent of the Capuchin friars and the Oratory of the Blacks!
Day 5-8
Day 5: After breakfast, spend the day visiting the city of Lerici on the eastern shore of the Gulf of Poets. Lerici was a stronghold of the maritime republic of Pisa and, from that period, it preserves the castle and the village. It is also advisable to visit the village of Tellaro, a typical example of Ligurian seaside villages, perched on the sea. In the afternoon visit a local winery and wine tasting of local wines. In the evening, enjoy dinner in a local restaurant.
Day 6: After breakfast, depart to Piedmont. We suggest, along the state road number 1 Aurelia to Sestri Levante, which in this section is particularly rich in picturesque views and views, to have a stop in Zoagli, Chiavari and Lavagna - significant places in Ligurian history and architecture. We recommend a detour of about 4.5 km to visit the Basilica dei Fieschi in the hinterland of Chiavari, one of the most important Romanesque-Gothic buildings in Liguria (13th century) with a stop in Rapallo/Santa Margherita. Continue your way to Piedmont, to reach Hotel La Locanda dell’Arte.
Day 7: After breakfast, enjoy a full day excursion in the Langhe area. The full day is dedicated to visiting Langhe. Following the S.S. 231, you will reach Alba, the most famous town in this area. Follow the road southwards and will reach Grinzane Cavour where you will taste wines in a local cellar. We suggest visiting La Morra - a medieval village with a beautiful view - and Barolo, famous for its red wine. Then enjoy dinner to end the day perfectly!
Day 8: Your trip has come to an end... It's time to head back home!

Cinque Terre
Nestled along the Italian Riviera, Cinque Terre is a gorgeous region comprised of five colourful cliffside villages that are surrounded by dramatic hills and vineyards. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, this 15 km stretch of coastline is well known for its incredible hiking trails, picture-perfect views, and quaint village atmosphere, and makes for a memorable Italian coastal break!
The area’s five main villages all offer something different for visitors, and if you have the time, it’s worth visiting them all - the dedicated Cinque Terre train from La Spezia runs once an hour, and makes stops at them all. Riomaggiore, the first stop on the line, is the largest, with a clifftop medieval castle; the next stop, Manarola, is the place to try the Cinque Terre’s wine, Sciacchetrà, while further down Corniglia is unique in that it does not have direct access to the sea, instead of being perched atop a dramatic cliff. Vernazza has a romantic harbour, and Monterosso offers visitors a charming beach.
Along the coast, sample Pasta alla Genovese, with the region’s delicious pesto, or some traditional focaccia; or, discover some of the equally charming towns along the Ligurian coastline. La Spezia features a spacious port and plenty of charming trattorias, while Levanto is on the very cusp of Cinque Terre, and is the ideal starting point for a long hike along the coast.
