Your Itinerary —
Arrival in Piedmont in Solonghello at the Hotel La Locanda dell'Arte. Here you will have your travel documents delivered and be assigned to your room. Then enjoy some free time to take in your surroundings before an overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 2: Asti and the Langa Astigiana
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before you get ready for the day. You can spend the day visiting the city of Asti and the Langa Astigiana. Asti, a medieval city characterized by the red-brick towers and the yellow of the tuff, reveals the link with the land and in particular with the production of wine. We recommend a visit to the Collegiate Church of San Secondo, the Baptistery of San Pietro and the Palazzo Alfieri. In the afternoon you can follow the itinerary of Isola d’Asti, Nizza Monferrato, Canelli, Castiglione Tinella, Castagnole Lanze, Castiglione D’Asti. In Asti you will enter the land of production of Moscato d’Asti. Then you will have the chance to visit and enjoy a tasting at a local Piedmontese wine cellar. Overnight stay at Hotel La Locanda dell'Arte.
After breakfast you will make your departure towards Canelli, the second most important town in the province after Asti and the centre of production of Moscato d’Asti and Asti Spumante. Enjoy a visit to the underground cathedrals of the Bosca cellars, which branch out all over the city and are cellars for the aging of the sparkling wine, dug directly into the tuff of the hills from the 1500s. The underground cathedrals are masterpieces of engineering and enological architecture where millions of bottles are left to ferment. After the visit we suggest you head towards the historic centre of Canelli, characterised by the intersection of narrow alleys overlooked by a stone house. The town is dominated by the castle (today called Palazzo Gancia) of medieval origin, rebuilt after the destruction that occurred in 1617 during the war against the Monferrato. Overnight stay at Hotel La Locanda dell'Arte.
Day 4: Tigliole d’Asti
After breakfast, depart towards Tigliole d’Asti and arrive in the early afternoon at your next hotel, Hotel Ca ’Vittoria. Here you will be assigned your room before enjoying some free time for activities of your choice. Overnight stay at Hotel Ca ’Vittoria.
After breakfast head off towards Alba. Going south on the state road 231, you will reach Alba, the main town of the Langhe, a town with a medieval centre, towers and tower-houses with a charming 19th century atmosphere. Continuing southwards you will reach Grinzane Cavour. Here you can experience a tasting of Piedmontese wines at "La Cantina del Conte". Here begins a path that winds along the ridges of the hills that make up "Le Langhe" (literally the thinned ridge of a hill chain). La Morra is also worth a visit, a medieval town with a splendid lookout. Barolo centre of production of the famous wine of the same name is also an interesting spot to visit. Overnight stay at Hotel Ca ’Vittoria.
Day 6: Langhe hills and the Barolo and Barbaresco
After breakfast at the hotel, enjoy some free time to visit the typical Langhe hills and the Barolo and Barbaresco production area. We recommend visiting the town of Barolo with its castle, where there is the Historical Library ordered by Silvio Pellico and the Museo delle Contadinerie. In the evening, enjoy dinner in a restaurant with typical Piedmontese dishes. Overnight stay at Hotel Ca ’Vittoria.
Day 7: Free day
After breakfast at the hotel, you will have a free day to enjoy your time in the local area, embark on some individual visits and make the most of your last full day here in Italy. Overnight stay at Hotel Ca ’Vittoria.
Day 8: Hotel Ca ’Vittoria - Departure
Following breakfast, the tour will be complete and you can head home with happy memories of rolling hills and charming vineyards.
