Your Itinerary In Detail

Day 1: Dublin

Arrive in Dublin and explore the attractions of Europe’s most popular city. Dublin has a wealth of treasures with cultural delights like St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Dublin Castle, Trinity College to name but a few!

For those who prefer a more relaxed look at the capital, a leisurely browse through the main shopping area of Grafton Street is an absolute must. Overnight in Dublin.

Spend the day in Dublin. In the morning, explore The Guinness Storehouse, a unique experience where the visitor can discover what goes into making a pint of Guinness.

Visit the famous Georgian quarter of Dublin in the afternoon, which incorporates some of Dublin's loveliest 18th-century streets, squares, and landmarks.

Spend your evening in the pubs of busy riverside neighbourhood Temple Bar, an area on the south bank of the River Liffey in central Dublin. Overnight in County Dublin.

Collect your car in the morning. Leave Dublin, and travel west across the rolling plains of central Ireland. En route, pass through the town of Kilbeggan. You might like to pause to visit the Kilbeggan Whiskey Distillery, dating from 1757, and the oldest of its kind in Ireland.

Later at Athlone, you can also visit the spectacular 6th-century monastic settlement on the banks of the River Shannon in Clonmacnoise. Continue to Co. Galway for your overnight stay.

Day 4: Galway

Today, drive through the brooding landscape of Connemara, a beautiful, rugged region of mountains and heathland. Visit the famous Kylemore Abbey, a former Victorian Castle with extensive gardens and lovely walks along the small lake.

Hike in the Connemara National Park and enjoy the view over the coastal islands from the 445m summit of Diamond Hill. Overnight in County Galway.

Head to the famous Cliffs of Moher on the West Coast, which rise 200m high from the ocean. Follow an extensive 40 km walk along the cliffs from Doolin all the way to Liscannor. Clare is famous for its waves and surf. Rent a board or take a surfing lesson in the small seaside village of Lahinch. Overnight in County Clare.

Travel south to Co. Kerry. On your way, you can stop at Bunratty Castle and Folk Park, the most complete medieval castle in Ireland. The Folk Park features include a recreated village and a display of 19th-century agricultural machinery, enabling visitors to experience Ireland as it was in the old days.

Stroll around Muckross House and Gardens in the afternoon, where the 19th-century Victorian mansion is set against the stunning beauty of Killarney Lakes and National Park. Overnight in County Kerry.

Day 7: Ring of Kerry

Follow Ireland's most famous scenic ring road, the Ring of Kerry. Stop in the small fishing village of Portmagee on Valentia Island, and take a long walk on the sandy beach at Derrynane.

Derrynane House, set in a 320-acre national historic park, is the ancestral home of a former Irish politician, and well worth visiting. Head back to Killarney via Molls Gap and Ladies View. Overnight in County Kerry.

Depart Killarney and travel toward the southeast of Ireland, taking in the provincial towns of Mallow and Clonmel. Visit the famous Rock of Cashel, once the seat of the high kings of Ireland and an important ecclesiastical site in the early Middle Ages.

Stop off in the medieval capital of Ireland for a visit to Kilkenny Castle and perhaps the Kilkenny Design Centre. Overnight in County Dublin.

Your Destinations

Your Destination

Take a stroll through Dublin’s elegant Georgian streets and squares, making your way to Trinity College at the heart of the city. Visit the beautiful Book of Kells, an illuminated manuscript of the four Christian gospels dating to the 9th century, and one of the country’s finest national treasures. From there you can wander up Grafton Street for the best that the city has to offer in shopping, exploring the wonderful side streets that are full of cosmopolitan coffee shops, restaurants and boutiques.

Enjoy lunch in one of the many fantastic restaurants. Afterwards, explore the troubled story of Ireland’s struggle for freedom and independence by visiting the atmospheric and moving Kilmainham Gaol. If you prefer something at a gentler pace, stroll through the grounds of the nearby Royal Hospital Kilmainham which is home to the Irish Museum of Modern Art (IMMA).

In the heart of western Ireland, Galway is the halfway point and the only city along the entire 2500 km route known as the Wild Atlantic Way. Arty and bohemian, the city is best loved for its offbeat cafe-bar culture, where the sound of live music follows around every street corner. Remnants of the medieval town walls lie between trendy boutiques, and a long promenade gives way to sandy beaches.
