Syrou Melathron 4* —
Perched above the sapphire waters of Vaporia in Ermoupolis, Syrou Melathron 4* is a 19th-century neoclassical mansion turned boutique hotel. Built in 1856, this noble residence retains its grandeur through hand-painted ceilings, marble balconies and ornate chandeliers that whisper of a storied past.
The location is as enviable as the architecture: within moments of leaving your room or suite you can descend a few steps and find yourself at the edge of the Aegean. Here, history, heritage and effortless charm blend seamlessly with modern comfort, offering a stay that feels both timeless and distinctly Greek.
Your room —
Choose between a Deluxe Room or Superior Suite with balcony.
Deluxe Room (18 m²)
Enjoy the refined comfort of this Deluxe Room, where every detail, from the luxurious marble bathroom to the comprehensive amenities, transforms your stay into a moment of relaxation and elegance.
Superior Suite with balcony (35 m²)
Nestled on the first floor of Building B, this Superior Suite with balcony is ideal for families and friends, offering a splendid view of the majestic dome of Saint Nicholas Church and the charming surrounding streets. Combining the authentic atmosphere of the Melathron with more understated décor, it charms guests with its comfort and tranquillity, promising an unforgettable experience.
Please note that Building B is separate from the main neoclassical Building A (only 20 metres away). The entrance is via the neighbouring alleyway (Vizantiou & Tzavela). Check-in takes place in the main building and breakfast is served on the Roof Garden.
Your dining choices
This is a bed and breakfast stay.
Dining at Syrou Melathron is designed as an experience in itself, balancing tradition with refinement. Mornings unfold on the Roof Garden Aegean View, where breakfast is served against a horizon of sea and sky, framed by the dome of St Nicholas. By night, the same terrace transforms into 1856, an elegant wine bar where carefully chosen vintages and gourmet bites are savoured beneath a canopy of stars. Just steps away, the hotel’s Café offers a more grounded encounter with Syros’ flavours. Here, homemade delicacies, artisanal pies and fragrant herbal infusions showcase the island’s produce, bringing together authenticity, terroir and a touch of understated elegance.
Your time
Step beyond the doors of the elegant hotel and the island itself takes centre stage. Every summer Syros comes alive with international cultural events, from the renowned Animasyros Festival, one of Europe’s leading showcases of animation, to art fairs and performances that reimagine tradition through a modern lens.
And of course, the island is home to some delightful beaches, offering a peaceful escape from the everyday. Notably, Syros has been less transformed by mass tourism than other Greek islands, so you can expect an authentic Greek experience from start to finish.
Syros —
The island of Syros possesses everything that a Greek island should, including beautiful beaches and pretty white houses with blue roofs, sitting in perfect contrast with the stony earth of the island itself. The capital of Syros, Ermoupolis, will charm you with its numerous side streets paved with marble, its buildings with high ceilings, Miaouli Square, and other architectural gems. Visit Ano Syros, a little medieval village where you can visit the Catholic cathedral St. George and the Capuchin Jesuit monastery. Relax at the edge of the water on one of the beaches of the island. Finikas, Galissas, or Megas Gialos are popular beaches that are worth discovering.
