While the island's capital, Chora, is a maze of cobbled streets and cosmopolitan restaurants and bars, travellers can find tranquil beaches and unspoilt towns along the island's 80km coastline.
Just 12 km from the capital is Lia Beach, a secluded stretch of beach perfect for those who want to swim and enjoy the sun. Near Kalafati, you will also find a larger beach that offers plenty of opportunities for exciting water sports. End your day on the northern tip of the island at the atmospheric Armenistis Lighthouse, the perfect spot for a breathtaking Greek sunset over the Aegean Sea.
