Katomeri, where the hotel is situated, has a few tavernas where the chances are that a visitor will be offered a glass of ouzo and a game of cards. The only other village on the main road (a misnomer if ever there was one!) is Spartohori, an immaculate small settlement of whitewashed houses half buried in a riot of bougainvillea and jasmine, with outstanding views across to Lefkada and Skorpios.
Other tavernas can be found near the quay in Vathi, just one kilometre away and the nearest beach is about 30 minutes walk from the hotel.

The Hotel Meganisi, run by the charming Dimitris and Christina Politis, with the help of their sons, complements the spirit of the island perfectly. Attractively designed in a traditional style, the 35 guest bedrooms are spacious and comfortable. All have air-conditioning, en suite shower rooms and balconies with lovely views over the surrounding countryside.
