The architecture on Ios is utterly dazzling with its typical Cycladic whitewashed buildings perched beautifully on hill tops and dotted around valleys. Pick any one of these tranquil Greek villages and spend the day amongst the locals chatting in cafes and playing backgammon - soak up the authenticity of what seems to be an era gone by. As the evening comes, wander through the cobbled backalleys of Chora, awash with clothing and jewellery stores, souvlaki shops and excellent restaurants, or make your way to Yialos or the Port to escape the crowds and unwind with a drink on the beautiful Mylopotas beach.
