Your Destination —
The largest island on the lake is Reichenau, which is entirely a UNESCO World Heritage Site, thanks to its monastic history. 1,000 years ago, the island monastery was an important religious, artistic, scientific and political centre. Today, the well-preserved churches, murals, and island customs are a mark of this interesting history. Reichenau Monastey is just a five minute walk from the hotel.
Explore the island by foot, bicycle or car (add car hire on next page), visiting churches, beaches or pretty villages. Switzerland is so close that Stein am Rhein and the Rhine Falls near Schaffhausen can be visited in a day trip.
If you're travelling in November or December, don't miss the famous Christmas market at Constance for over 130 artisans, traders and food vendors spread their wares creating an enticing Christmas atmosphere beside the harbour.
For the adventurous, try some of the many watersports on offer in the warmer months including canoeing, windsurfing, or kayaking.

The Island Bistro serves simple, hearty, regional cuisine in a cosy relaxed setting. Start your day with a filling breakfast, for lunch choose healthy, locally sourced fish and vegetables , and mid afternoon treat yourself to a coffee or an ice cream sundae out on the terrace overlooking the lake.
Dinner is a sociable affair at the 'Big Table' where guests can mingle, warmed by the crackling fire, over a simple 3 course selection and a bottle of wine from the owner's vinyeyards.

Bodensee Konstanze (Lake Constance) Thermal Baths
Located on the gently sloping landscape, outside the city centre. With two wings and an impressive glass facade, this wellness oasis opens to the lake and has a panoramic view of Lake Constance, the Vorarlberg mountains and the Swiss Alps.
Here you can enjoy a huge variety of pools of differing temperatures, as well as state of the art saunas with amazing views- a wonderful way to warm up on a winter's day.
