A wealth of sightseeing

It is rare that a holidaymaker comes across a place that offers quite so much for history enthusiasts, families and party-goers alike, but that is exactly what Germany's capital city provides – and that is one of the main reasons why it's such a special place to visit.

Berlin is bustling with famous attractions, from the Reichstag to Museum Island to Checkpoint Charlie, to name but three. If sport is your thing, pay a visit to the Olympic Stadium, where Jesse Owens famously won four gold medals at the 1936 Olympic Games. There are few cities in the world that boast the kind of history that Berlin does, and it would be simply impossible to see everything in one visit here.

One city, but two very different sides to it

The fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989 united the city. However, even though close to thirty years have passed since The Wall came down, it is still fascinating to spend time on the west side followed by a visit to the east to get a sense of the contrasting vibe in both parts of the city. A guided boat trip up the Spree River is also a great way to become acquainted with your surroundings.

Berlin's nightlife caters for all kinds of party animals, with the pub scene as well as the nightclub scene extremely vibrant and slow to wind down. Some places just don't close their doors at all, meaning that parties can sometimes stretch into double-digit hours and even days.

Some food for thought

German cuisine is hearty fare. It would be wrong to return home without sampling a helping of bratwurst and some of the finest craft beers, a staple choice among locals. Berlin boasts a fine selection of luxury accommodation too, whether you prefer modern decadence or a hotel with a grand architectural flair. With our exclusive deals, you can choose from our handpicked selection of sumptuous hotels at some of the best rates.

Whether for a last-minute European city break or a longer, more relaxing stay, Berlin is a city that many choose to return to again and again. This is partly because there's so much to see and do, but also because its vibe is upbeat and infectious. If you're looking for holidays to Berlin, sign up today.

The hotel was in a lovely area in Berlin with good transport links to everything. We both really enjoyed the breakfast each morning, but it's best to get there a bit earlier to get a larger range of food. We were given free welcome drinks to have in the bar and as we stayed over valentines day I was given a rose at reception which was a lovely touch. The room was immaculate and the bed was really comfy even though it was two singles pushed together with separate duvets.

Hotel was very clean, modern and the hotel staff were very efficient. The room was super with lovely bathroom and very good facilities. Breakfast was excellent with a fabulous choice of cooked, cakes and fruit. The bar area was quite small with not many tables so often no seats in the evening. The position of the hotel was very good with views over the park at the front. We visited Berlin for the Christmas markets and the hotel was within walking distance of all the fabulous markets and the bus stops were just outside the hotel for visiting the tourist attractions.
