Its long sandy beaches, lively marina and mountain views create an inviting setting for a sun-filled escape. Combining Mediterranean leisure with a strong Catalan identity, the town is perfectly positioned for enjoying the coast while exploring the cultural and natural treasures of the Pyrénées-Orientales.
Must-sees:
- Saint-Cyprien Beach: A long stretch of golden sand ideal for swimming, sunbathing and leisurely walks beside the Mediterranean.
- Port de Saint-Cyprien: One of the largest marinas on the French Mediterranean coast, lined with restaurants, cafés and boats.
- Jardin des Plantes des Capellans: A peaceful botanical garden filled with exotic plants, shaded paths and tranquil ponds.
- Collioure: A colourful coastal town known for its artistic heritage, picturesque harbour and historic château.
- Perpignan: The vibrant capital of French Catalonia, home to lively squares, ochre façades and the impressive Palace of the Kings of Majorca.
Culinary culture:
The cuisine of Saint-Cyprien blends Mediterranean freshness with Catalan traditions. Expect grilled fish, fresh seafood, seasonal vegetables and regional specialities inspired by both France and neighbouring Spain. Local wines from the Roussillon vineyards complement leisurely meals served in waterfront restaurants, bustling markets and traditional Catalan eateries.
Dive deeper:
Beyond its beaches, Saint-Cyprien offers plenty of opportunities for outdoor exploration. Cycle along the seafront, enjoy sailing or paddleboarding from the marina, or venture towards the coastal paths and rocky coves surrounding Collioure. Inland, vineyards, medieval villages and the foothills of the Pyrenees reveal a quieter landscape shaped by Catalan heritage. The nearby Réserve Naturelle Nationale du Mas Larrieu also offers preserved dunes, wetlands and riverside trails.
