Travel through serene landscapes in a long wooden river boat and experience the summer of the Arctic Circle. Continuing the journey, the boat will take you to the Reindeer Farm located on the Ounasjoki River. At the farm you will learn about reindeer husbandry and participate in a ceremony to cross the Arctic Circle. Enjoy Lappish hospitality over a cup of hot coffee and traditional Finnish pastries before returning to the town of Rovaniemi.

On arrival at the husky farm you will be welcomed by eager, but friendly, barking as these dogs are keen to get going! Your guide will share his knowledge of the life of the sled dogs and give instructions on how to handle them.

Travel through serene landscapes in a steady catamaran boat and experience the summer of the Arctic Circle. Reaching the shores of Kotisaari, you will step in the world of this tiny river island, where you will prepare together with your guide Lappish snacks. Experience the warmth of the open fire, surrounded by tranquil nature, on an island forgotten by time. Even if the sky is cloudy and the reddish yellow colour of sun cannot be seen, the summer bright night in the Arctic is an amazing experience.

Immerse yourself in the local lifestyle as an experienced nature guide leads you to the world of berry picking and wild water fishing. The forests provide food, peace and protection, safe haven to take time to linger and connect with the present moment. Depending on the season you will be finding cloudberries, blueberries, lingonberries, cranberries, and crowberries, as well as a variety of edible mushrooms.

Rovaniemi was a legendary lumberjack town, and the Ounasjoki and Kemijoki rivers were used as floating channels for the log industry from the late 1800 century until end of 1980. You will visit the Kotisaari Island which was a traditional stronghold of the Lumberjacks in Kemijoki, and only with us can you enter this idyllic island. During the cruise, you will pass by the urban city life and the green riverbanks as well as the most iconic places to enjoy the best possible views! Herbal tea and traditional tea bread will be served during the cruise.

Heading outside Rovaniemi city and following the riverside road North, the ride will get you to the best spot to see Northern Lights, but be patient as the aurora loves playing hide-and-seek; you never know when they will show up! While observing nature’s own theatrical performance you fry sausages and marshmallows surrounded by the great aroma of the fire. This relaxing escape will definitely satisfy all of your senses.
