Samana —

One of the Dominican Republic's top destinations for whale watching, the Samaná Peninsula is a palm-fringed, lush and unspoiled location, and the perfect place to enjoy a sun-soaked holiday surrounded by crystal-clear waters. In Samaná, tourists to this beautiful Caribbean nation can enjoy the best of the island's secluded beaches, in addition to deep, verdant rainforests and an ancient, rocky coastline.

 

Each year, between January and March, roughly 2500 humpback whales visit the magnificent Samaná Bay, acting as the main draw for tourists and offering a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to enjoy the mammals in their natural habitat. In addition, Samaná offers the chance to unearth treasures such as jaw-dropping waterfalls, adventurous hiking trails, magnificent forest zip lines and wonderfully peaceful villages.
