Dominican Culture Tour

Created exclusively for Voyage Privé customers, this Dominican Culture Tour will take you on an immersive journey through the nature, history and cultural richness of one of the Caribbean's most popular destinations. By discovering a chocolate factory, taking a panoramic tour of Higüey, the exploration of a sugar cane field and plenty of walks in several local villages, you will get a glimpse of the local living in this country.

During this trip, you will have the chance to visit a chocolate factory in the charming community of Bonao, a small and beautiful town located halfway between Santiago and Santo Domingo.

You will then continue to the city of Higüey, located in the province of La Altagracia. Upon your arrival, you will discover the religious beliefs of the Dominican Republic with visit to the Basilica of Our Lady of Altagracia, known as the first American sanctuary, dedicated to the Virgin Mary. Prepare to be amazed by its unique architecture!

You will then briefly explore a sugarcane field followed by a visit to the community of Boca de Yuma, a picturesque fishing village with incredible panoramic views from its cliffs. Later, you will go to the magical village of Altos de Chavon, in La Romana. This ancient Mediterranean-style jewel, surrounded by cobbled streets and coral stone and terracotta buildings, is also known as the "City of Artists" and has been a source of inspiration for many filmmakers.
