Day 2: Arrival in Beijing
Upon arrival in Beijing, you will be met at the airport by your guide & transferred to your hotel. After checking in, you will have time at leisure to explore or unwind. We suggest opting into one of our optional excursions to the Temple of Heaven. Known as Tiantan, this site is an architectural marvel and is the location where the Ming and Qing emperors used to pray to have good harvests. Overnight at your hotel.
Day 3: Beijing
Starting with breakfast at yoour hotel, today will include an excursion to the Great Wall of China in Badaling - the most famous section of the Great Wall. It is said that this marvel can be seen from the moon. As one of the most spectacular structures ever built by humans, this wall measures 6700 km and was built to protect the Middle Kingdom from the invasions of the Barbarians of the North. You will have the chance to walk along the Great Wall to appreciate 2,000 years of history whilst admiring the panoramic views.
Enjoy lunch at your own leisure and then visit a cloisonne workshop to better understand how to create this amazing artwork. Head back to city and en route visit a local tea house. Here, you can witness a traditional tea ceremony demonstration, and then you'll catch a glimpse of the Bird Nest and Water Cube which are the Olympic sites. In the evening, why not add an optional Kung Fu show at the Red Theatre? Your guide will escort you by taxi to the theatre and buy the ticket for you, and after the show you will head back to your hotel by taxi. Dinner is at your own leisure. Overnight at your hotel.
Enjoy breakfast at your hotel. Afterwards, you will embark on a visit to Tiananmen Square & the Forbidden City, the largest and most intact conglomeration of ancient structures making up the imperial palace. This palace hosted 24 Ming and Qing Dynasty emperors who ruled China for over 500 years. Lunch will be at your own leisure before you transfer to the train station and take your fast train to Xi’an . Upon arrival in Xi'an, you will meet your guide and transfer to your hotel. Dinner is at your own leisure. Overnight at your hotel.
Day 5: Xi’an
After breakfast at your hotel, it is then onto the main attraction of Xi'an: a visit to one of the most important archaeological discoveries of the 20th century: the Terracotta Army. These 6000 life-size terra cotta warriors, archers, infantrymen, horses, and bronze chariots, with their horse and chariots, were created over 2,000 years ago to accompany Emperor Qin Shihuang into the afterlife.
Here, you will visit pits 1, 2, 3 and 2 bronze chariots. Lunch will be at your own leisure until you venture back to the city. En route, you shall visit a jade factory, followed by the Shaanxi province historical museum. In the evening, you have the option of adding a dinner with a traditional show with dances and music of the Tang Dynasty (payable locally). Dinner is at your own leisure. Overnight at your hotel in Xi'an.
Day 6: Xi’an
After breakfast, you will be introduced to Chinese calligraphy next to the Small Pagoda of Wild Goose. You will then visit the Small Wild Goose Pagoda, dated from Tang Dyansty, where you will have a lovely overview of the city. Lunch will be at your own leisure. Then, stroll down the Muslim street located in the center of Xian City. This is a fantastic place to wander and find all kinds of shops and restaurants, all operated by Muslims. You can then venture into the old town further, where you can admire the architectural beauty of the Great Mosque, constructed in Tang Dynasties. Dinner at your own leisure. Overnight at your hotel.
Following breakfast at your hotel, you will transfer to the train station and take your fast train to Shanghai. Upon arrival in Shanghai, you will meet your guide and you will directly move on to visit Yu Garden. Yu Garden was a private garden of the Pan family in the Ming Dynasty. As the largest and most prestigious of its era in Shanghai, this garden is unique in its design. It perfectly blends decorative halls, elaborate pavilions, glittering pools, zigzag bridges, pagodas, archways, and impressive rockeries. Then, you will stroll through the old town, discovering its intriguing shops and streets. This evening, you may choose to add an Acrobatic show in the city. This is a must! Day 8, 9, 10 or 11: Shanghai
After breakfast, the rest of the day is at your own leisure to explore and discover the city.
We suggest seeing the contrasts between this modern yet traditional city. Why not start with a walk along the river on the Bund, the heart of the administrative and commercial activities of the city. Offering a magnificent view of the harbour, gaze upon the skyline and then board a ferry to cross the Huangpu River.
Entering modern China, in the Lujiazui district, you could climb the International Finance Center, up to the 100th floor, from where you could enjoy a panoramic view of the city of Shanghai. You could then continue your day with a visit of old Shanghai, dating from the 16th century. You will love its very animated pedestrian streets lined with many traditional shops.
