Your destinations

Shanghai

A city of striking contrasts, Shanghai blends centuries-old traditions with bold, futuristic ambition. Along The Bund, colonial-era façades line the river, facing the soaring towers of Pudong across the Huangpu River. As dusk settles, reflections ripple across the water, capturing the city’s unique dialogue between past and present. From serene classical gardens to dynamic neighbourhoods alive with creativity, Shanghai reveals a rhythm that is both exhilarating and refined.

Must-sees:

  • The Bund: An iconic riverside promenade offering timeless views of Shanghai’s historic and modern skylines.
  • Yu Garden: A masterpiece of classical Chinese landscaping, with pavilions, rockeries and tranquil ponds.
  • Shanghai Tower: China’s tallest building, providing breathtaking panoramic views from its observation deck.
  • Tianzifang: A charming arts district of narrow lanes filled with studios, boutiques and cafés.
  • Old Town: Atmospheric streets where temples, markets and everyday life intertwine.

Culinary culture:

Shanghai’s cuisine is subtle, balanced and deeply rooted in regional traditions. Signature dishes include xiaolongbao, delicate soup dumplings bursting with flavour, alongside braised pork, freshwater fish and seasonal vegetables. From elegant dining rooms to lively street-food stalls, meals reflect the city’s love for texture, sweetness and harmony, often enjoyed with jasmine tea or local rice wine.

Dive deeper:

Beyond the landmarks, Shanghai rewards curiosity. Take a gentle cruise along the Huangpu River to see the city from the water, wander through former French Concession streets shaded by plane trees, or explore contemporary art spaces tucked into converted warehouses. The city’s creative energy is constant, yet moments of calm can be found in parks, teahouses and quiet backstreets that reveal a more intimate side of urban life.

Good to know:

Shanghai is served by Pudong International Airport, located about 45 minutes from the city centre by car or metro. The best time to visit is from April to May and September to October, when temperatures are mild and pleasant for sightseeing. The local currency is the Chinese yuan (CNY).

Hong Kong

Dynamic, vertical and endlessly fascinating, Hong Kong is a city where tradition and modernity coexist in striking harmony. Skyscrapers rise above ancient temples, neon-lit streets contrast with tranquil islands, and urban energy is never far from nature. Set along the shimmering waters of Victoria Harbour, Hong Kong captivates with its cinematic skyline, fast-paced rhythm and deeply rooted cultural identity shaped by both Eastern and Western influences.

Must-sees:

  • Victoria Peak: The city’s most iconic viewpoint, offering sweeping panoramas over Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and the harbour.
  • Victoria Harbour: Best experienced by ferry, especially at dusk when the skyline begins to glow.
  • Star Ferry: A historic crossing that provides one of the most memorable perspectives of the city.
  • Tsim Sha Tsui Promenade: A waterfront walk with views across the harbour towards Hong Kong Island.
  • Lantau Island: Home to lush landscapes and the impressive Tian Tan Buddha, a symbol of spiritual calm.

Culinary culture:

Hong Kong is one of the world’s great food capitals. From Michelin-starred dining to humble street stalls, the city celebrates flavour at every level. Enjoy dim sum served in bustling tea houses, roast meats glazed to perfection, fresh seafood and delicate Cantonese dishes. International influences are everywhere, making Hong Kong a place where global cuisine thrives alongside deeply traditional recipes.

Dive deeper:

Beyond its urban core, Hong Kong reveals a surprising diversity of experiences. Explore lively street markets filled with incense, textiles and local snacks, or escape to hiking trails that overlook secluded beaches and green hills. Discover neighbourhoods such as Sheung Wan and Sai Ying Pun, where old shopfronts meet contemporary cafés and galleries. Whether cruising the harbour by night or wandering quiet temples at dawn, the city offers moments of contrast that linger long after departure.

Good to know:

Hong Kong is served by Hong Kong International Airport, located about 30 minutes from the city centre by train. The best time to visit is from October to December, when the weather is dry and pleasantly warm. The local currency is the Hong Kong dollar (HKD).
