São Vicente is known as the little Brazil of the African coast, and is renowned for its lively music and nightlife. Santo Antão's fertile valleys, verdant banana plantations, and sugar cane fields make it a hiker's paradise cut with winding trails and pathways climbing up towards rich green peaks. Choose a 2-night extension to extend your trip with a visit to the gorgeous island of Sal.

Your Itinerary In Detail —

Day 1 : Arrive in São Vicente

Touch down on Cape Verde, ready for your unforgettable tour in this island paradise. Enjoy a warm reception from your assistant or guide. Transfer to your hotel and relax, stretch out, and enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure.

DAY 2 : SÃO VICENTE

Discover the São Vicente island with a tour of its loveliest beaches and volcanoes. Start with a walking tour in the cosmopolitan city of Mindelo, before climbing up to Monte Verde, complete with fantastic panoramic views. Visit Salamansa and its kitesurfing beach, and Baía das Gatas, known for its music festival and pretty natural pools. Pause for a swim before continuing on to Praia Grande, a beautiful white sand beach, and Calhau, home to extinct volcanoes and views of the distant island of Santa Luzia. Return to the city center. 

DAY 3 : SÃO VICENTE

Enjoy a day to pass the time as you please, or choose to venture out on an optional excursion swimming with sea turtles.

Day 4 : Santo Antão

Take an early transfer to Mindelo's Harbour for a 1 hour boat trip to your next destination - Santo Antão island. The adventure starts as soon as you arrive, with a tour of the island's main attractions along the famous Corda road. Pass through Água das Caldeiras, Ribeira Grande, Ponta de Sol and, of course, Paúl, and notice the distinct contrast between the arid south side of the island and the luxuriant vegetation of the north.

DAY 5 : SANTO ANTÃO

Enjoy a free day to relax and explore the pretty surroundings, or choose to head out on a hike on an optional excursion. 

DAY 6 : SÃO VICENTE

Discover the southwest side of the island with a trip through black volcanic landscapes and beautiful isolated villages. 

DAY 7 : SÃO VICENTE

Enjoy another free day to stretch out in the sunshine, people-watch at a friendly bar, or choose to head out an optional excursion: a hike to Calhau Volcano.

DAY 8 : SAL

Transfer to the airport ready for your flight home, or continue on your optional extension to Sal Island.

One of Cape Verde’s smallest island’s, Sal offers picture-perfect beaches with plenty of opportunity for water-sports and surfing. A unique African-European mix of cultures means there's something for everyone, from Palmeira, a west coast port with charming cobble-stone streets, to Buracona, a glowing lagoon-filled cave. Popular activities include sunbathing, windsurfing, kitesurfing, swimming, scuba diving and deep-sea fishing.

Hike Calhau Volcano in São Vicente

Discover a unique landscape as you take a three hour hike through the crater of the now extinct Calhau volcano. Transfer from Mindelo to Praia Grande and start your jounrey on the basalt rock by the beautiful ocean.

Hike Paul Valley in Santo Antão

Take the green and luxuriant road to Paúl valley, the garden of Cape Verde. This 4 hour hike goes from cottage to cottage, crossing vegetable crops and tropical fruits trees, along mule trails and terraced crops. Discover the local rural life while you walk.
