As one of America's untouched beauties, Alaska is a natural wonder that is completely out of the ordinary. Although the tips of the mountains are scattered with dustings of white snow and there are tons of glittering glaciers, the summer months sees the sun shine throughout the day and into the evening.
Juneau, Alaska - This ‘little San Francisco' lies along the Inside Passage and offers delightful shopping. For a truly breathtaking experience why not take trip in one of our many guided helicopter rides and land on a glacier? Take a tour to Alaska's “drive in” glacier, the Mendenhall Glacier, or you may wish to embark on a wildlife quest on one of our sightseeing cruises.
Skagway, Alaska - Visit the place where thousands of gold rushers began their trek to the Klondike and for a chance to get rich, why not pan for your own gold where all you find you keep? Take a ride on the charming antique streetcars or for an unforgettable journey ride the impressive White Pass railroad with breathtaking views of Glacier Gorge, Dead Horse Gulch and Bridal Veil Falls.
Take in the awe-inspiring scenery as you enjoy an unforgettable day of sailing through this dazzling park, where you'll glide along emerald waters and past calving icebergs, and can breathe in the crisp, fresh air to your heart's content.
Cruise Itinerary —
DAY 1: UK - Vancouver. Fly to Vancouver and transfer to your hotel for three nights.
DAY 2-3: Vancouver. Two full days to explore Canada's 'Gem of the Pacific', spectacularly set on the Burrard Inlet. It's one of the country's most beautiful cities with plenty of sightseeing opportunities including Gastown, Chinatown and Stanley Park.
DAY 4: Vancouver to embark. Transfer to your cruise ship, the MS Volendam for embarkation.
DAY 5: Inside Passage cruising. Enjoy the incredible beauty of the Inside Passage. Cruise past 1,000 miles of epic scenery, towering glaciated mountains, roaring waterfalls, endless islands and virgin forests. There is also plenty of animal and marine life to look out for including sea lions, eagles and porpoises.
DAY 6: Juneau. Alaska's capital, Juneau, has a Gold Rush story to rival that of Klondike and is only accessible by seaplane or boat. Perhaps join the optional wildlife cruise, salmon fishing or the excursion to Mendenhall Glacier.
DAY 7: Skagway. Morning arrival in Skagway, Alaska's gateway to the Klondike Gold Rush in Canada's Yukon. Skagway was the turbulent staging point for prospectors and still has old-fashioned weathered boardwalks and old-time saloons. Optional sightseeing includes a ride in a vintage parlour car to see the White Pass and Yukon route. The rest of the day is yours to relax or explore some more, before setting sail again late this evening.
DAY 8: Glacier Bay. Cruise into spectacular Glacier Bay where sixteen huge mountains converge to create a dramatic scene of awesome glaciers and massive icebergs. Wildlife is abundant, and you may spot eagles, seals, mountain goats, moose and bears.
DAY 9: Ketchikan. Colourful Ketchikan, situated on Revillagigedo Island is known as the 'salmon capital of the world'. Optional excursions include Indian Heritage Villages, Totem Bight State Park and 'flightseeing' to Misty Fjords National Monument.
DAY 10: Inside Passage cruising.
DAY 11: Vancouver - UK. Transfer to the airport for your flight to the UK.
DAY 12: Home landing in the UK.
