Your Itinerary In Detail

Day 1 & 2: Montreal

Day 1: Arrival Montreal

Montreal, the metropolis, offers a thousand and one attractions. An eminently multicultural city, it combines its French accent with that of its many cultural communities and charms with its American-European atmosphere. Its city centre is teeming with life at the foot of its mountain, while its history is rooted in its old neighbourhoods near the river.

Day 2: Montreal

Strolling through eighteenth and nineteenth-century mansions in Old Montreal, discover the imposing Notre-Dame Basilica, as well as museums that recount the past from the Pointe-à-Callière Museum to the Montreal History Center. Relax in the Old Port and enjoy a drink or two.

The Olympic Park, host of the 1976 Olympic Games, is a sight not to be missed and hard to ignore: its mast is the tallest inclined tower in the world. This area is also home to the Biodôme, a magical place where four ecosystems coexist.

Day 3, 4 & 5: Montreal and Saint Alexis des Monts

Day 3 Montreal/ Saint Alexis des Monts (140 kms)

Pick up your car rental in downtown Montreal then depart for the Mauricie region. The Mauricie stretches from the shores of the St. Lawrence River to the heart of the boreal forest. The Chemin du Roy, the first road for vehicles in Canada, runs along the river.

A country of loggers and loggers for much of its past, the Mauricie has also developed an industry based on its hydroelectric resources. Thanks to its rich history and the beauty of its natural area, it now offers an inexhaustible range of stays full of contrasts!

Accommodation at Lac à l'Eau Claire/Lac Blanc Outfitter:

A true oasis in the middle of the forest, this resort inn offers many possibilities. In addition to the host of possible activities such as fishing and quad biking, regional gastronomy will be at the rendezvous with its menus highlighting trout, game and local products.

Day 4 and 5: Saint Alexis des Monts

Accommodation at Lac à l'Eau Claire/Lac Blanc Outfitter:

Take advantage of the equipment at your disposal at the outfitter: pedal boats, canoes, rowing boats, kayaks and hiking trails. There are twenty-five kilometres of trails designed for outdoor activities. With a bit of luck you may see some species of big game, small game and birds. At an additional cost, it is also possible to watch bears, see a beaver dam, and take a seaplane tour. You’ll also have the opportunity to relax in the aquatic centre with its swimming pool, spa, sauna and mini gym.

Optional (contact us):

20-minute seaplane flight over Lac-à-la-Tortue

Day 6, 7 & 8 (8-night tour only): Quebec and Charlevoix

Day 6: Saint Alexis des Monts/ Quebec (190 kms)

Make the most of your last morning to use the facilities and activities on offer at your accommodation, surrounded by the glorious countryside. We then suggest a stop in Old Trois-Rivières. Continue onto the capital of the province, Quebec. Be careful, you risk falling under the spell of Quebec, the only fortified city in Northern Mexico!

Optional:

  • 20-minute seaplane flight over Lac-à-la-Tortue

Day 7: Quebec

Soak up Quebec’s romantic ambience while browsing its winding streets. Stroll through its oldest neighbourhoods, including Petit Champlain, Place-Royale and the Old Port. Walk along the magnificent banks of the Saint-Maurice River, one of the most spectacular scenic routes in Quebec. Your Destinations

Quebec

Québec truly feels like a country within a country, a distinct place of francophone linguistic and cultural identity within greater Canada. Québec's embrace of terroir, its language, and its passion for everything from winter snow to wine to gastronomy, is something else that encompasses both distinctly North American and European identities.

Old Québec, a UNESCO World Heritage treasure, is walkable and safe. Stroll the cobblestone streets of the only fortified city north of Mexico and explore its gorgeous outdoors nearby. Its history, friendly vibe, and myriad attractions make it a stand‑out travel destination throughout the year.

Montreal

Regarded as Canada’s cultural capital, Montreal is a unique island-city on the St Lawrence River, and the perfect place for big-city thrills mixed with charming attractions. For a taste of its old-world French atmosphere, visit the cobbled streets of Old Montreal, admiring Notre Dame Basilica and the charming Place Jacques-Cartier, which feels like it’s been plucked straight from a European town.

To escape the bustling city, take a stroll through Mount Royal Park, set atop the mountain after which the city is named. After climbing to the top, you can admire fantastic views over the city’s skyscrapers and monuments below, before settling down in a restaurant to savour some authentic Montreal cuisine. Don’t miss French-inspired options like the Breton pastry kouign amann, or get a taste for Montreal’s Haitian population by trying griot - a marinated pork shoulder that tastes like it’s straight from the Caribbean isles.

While foodies will be happy in this vibrant city, there are also plenty of sights to tempt culture-vultures. Head to the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts to explore Canadian art or wander the tranquil Montreal Botanical Garden, while if you’re ready for a day of thrills, La Ronde is an extensive theme park on nearby St. Helen’s Island.
