Your itinerary in detail

12 night road trip

Day 1-2: Montreal

Montreal is the second largest French-speaking city after Paris and is a city of contrasts.

Explore historic Old Montreal, named Ville Marie by the first settlers, and be sure to visit the emblematic Place Jacques Cartier and magnificent Hôtel de Ville.

Continue towards the city centre and don't miss the Place Ville Marie observatory with its unique urban view, as well as the city's underground network of cafés, restaurants and shops.

  • Pick-up hire car from the airport
  • Night in Montreal

Days 3 and 4: Quebec City

Quebec City is the capital of the province of Quebec and Canada's oldest city. Behind its high stone walls, admire the star-shaped citadel and impressive fortifications.

A lunch or dinner in a traditional sugar shack is highly recommended (not included), and don't miss a visit to the impressive Montmorency Falls, a natural wonder that stands even taller than Niagara Falls.

  • Night in Quebec

Day 5-6: Lac St. Jean

A short drive takes you to the Jacques Cartier National Park. The park features a beautiful glacial valley, the Vallée de la Jacques-Cartier, and is home to moose, caribou, deer, wolves, foxes, river otters and black bears.

Explore the beautiful Saguenay Fjord National Park, a natural wonder with 100 kilometres of hiking trails, and stop off at the historical village Val Jalbert where you can step back in time.

  • Night in Lac St. Jean

Day 7-8: Mauricie

La Mauricie National Park is a lush wilderness in one of the world's oldest mountain ranges, the Southern Laurentian Mountains, on the north bank of the St Lawrence River. With 150 lakes and 536 km2 of forest inhabited by wildlife, there are countless activities available including kayaking, canoeing, swimming and hiking.

We highly recommend a tour with a professional guide to see black bears in their native habitat or a seaplane trip to discover the natural beauty of the park from the air.

  • Night in Mauricie

Day 9: Ottawa

Drive on to Ottawa, Canada's capital city. Be sure to visit the Rideau Canal and the government buildings on Parliament Hill, and you can learn more about Canada at the Canadian Museum of History.

  • Night in Ottowa

Day 10 / 12: Thousand Islands

Today you will visit a unique natural wonder, the Thousand Islands. This is a group of more than 1,800 islands in the Saint Lawrence River on the border of the United States and Canada.

They are home to elaborate mansions, such as German-style Boldt Castle on Heart Island, and Singer Castle on Dark Island, with its gothic windows and secret passageways.

  • Night in Kingston

Day 11-12: Toronto

Visit Toronto's most iconic landmark, the CN Tower, which holds the title of the tallest free-standing structure in the Western Hemisphere.

Let the mouthwatering smell of food lead you to the bustling streets of Chinatown, and discover why the Distillery District is considered to be Canada's premier arts, culture and entertainment destination.

And why not visit the spectacular wonder of Niagara Falls and hop on the iconic Maid of the Mist boat tour to feel the cool spray on your face.

  •  Night in Toronto

Day 13: Departure

  •  Return hire car

14 NIGHT ROAD TRIP

Delve into its enticing gastronomic scene where dishes are made from its famous local produce, and try one of the many activities on offer from scenic hikes and boat rides on the river.

  •  Night in Charlevoix

Days 7-15: Similar to days 5-13 of the 12 night road trip
