Your Itinerary in Detail —
Day 1-2
Day 1: Arrive at Sophia Airport and go grab your rental car before heading to Sophia, where you'll be spending the night.
Day 2: Discovery of the Bulgarian capital, which during its history has been destroyed and rebuilt several times. The most beautiful monuments are in the city centre. Do not miss out on the Alexander of Neva Cathedral – the largest in the Balkan Peninsula, the Parliament, the Church of St Sophia which gave the city its modern name, the Rotunda of St George (4th century), the Church of St Nedelya, the old Serdika complex, the national theater of Ivan Vazov!
Day 3- 4
Day 3: Created by Philip II of Macedon, Plovdiv is among the oldest cities in
Europe, prior to Rome and Athens. European Capital of Culture in 2019, the city is a real open-air architectural museum – the Djoumaya mosque, the Roman stadium, the Roman theater, the church of Saint-Constantin and Saint-Hélène. The old town offers visitors a very special atmosphere with its winding streets and beautiful brightly coloured houses. Do not miss the Kapana district, a trendy “street art” district.
Day 4: Head to the Bulgarian coast to admire the colours of the Black Sea. The city of Burgas is one of the most dynamic holiday resorts in Bulgaria. Enjoy all that this city has to offer its visitors!
Day 5-8
Day 5: The ancient city of Nessebar was built on a picturesque peninsula on the edge of the Black Sea, and represents a unique architectural ensemble of around a hundred stone and wooden houses. It was named "the city of 40 churches", the remains of which can still be visited. Continue to Varna, also known as the Bulgarian “maritime capital”. Enjoy this cosmopolitan city with a huge maritime park, shopping streets in a pedestrian zone, a romantic seaside promenade, wide sandy beaches, a port, a lake and 19th-century neo-classical facades.
Day 6: Veliko Tarnovo is the prestigious capital of the second Bulgarian Kingdom, built on an exceptional natural site near the Yantra River. The houses are perched on the heights on the side of the “Balkan” mountain. On the main hill was built the fortress “Tsarevets” which is also the main symbol of the city. The Samovodska craftsman's street is the ideal place to choose the best souvenirs. Only a few kilometres from Véliko Tarnovo is also the village-museum of Arbanassi. Do not miss discovering the authentic atmosphere of the site and the fantastic panoramas on Véliko Tarnovo.
Day 7: Head back to Sofia and enjoy a full day to discover the city at your own pace!
Day 8: Your trip has come to an end... It's time to head back to Sofia Airport to travel back home!
