St Stephan's Cathedral
Seat of the archbishop (cardinal) of Vienna, the St Stephan's Cathedral is one of the most significant buildings of the middle European high and late Gothic period. Characteristics include the stand-alone traverse position of the towers, the integration of the Romanesque west façade, the high Gothic choir and the striking steep roof with ornate patterns of coloured tiles.
Belvedere Palaces
Two magnificent palaces, the Upper and Lower Belvedere, were built in the 18th century as the summer residence for the general Prince Eugene of Savoy. The palaces, with their extensive gardens, are considered to be one of the world’s finest Baroque landmarks. They also house an extensive art collection, including Gustav Klimt's masterpiece "The Kiss".
Hofburg
