Hanoi city highlights excursion by scooter

Your optional extras & excursions

Embark on a captivating journey through Hanoi, exploring the city’s most renowned landmarks, starting with the Ho Chi Minh complex, the One Pillar Pagoda, and the Temple of Literature.

Further information about your excursion:

  • The tour begins with a visit to the Ho Chi Minh Complex, dedicated to the revered founder of modern Vietnam, affectionately known as “Uncle Ho.” At its heart is the imposing Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, a solemn monument that serves as his final resting place. Stroll through the peaceful botanical gardens of the Presidential Palace to visit Ho Chi Minh’s modest stilt house, a simple yet symbolic reflection of his noble lifestyle. The next stop is the One Pillar Pagoda, a striking 11th-century structure perched on a single stone pillar, designed in the shape of a lotus blossom, the emblem of purity.
  • The tour continues to the Temple of Literature, Vietnam’s first university, built in the 11th century. This temple is a remarkable example of traditional Vietnamese architecture, still beautifully preserved and even featured on the 100,000 Vietnamese dong banknote.
  • Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant.
  • In the afternoon, experience Hanoi from an entirely new vantage point. Hop on the back of a motorbike, chauffeured by an experienced driver, and delve into the hidden corners of the city that remain off the beaten path.
  • Pause for a photo opportunity at the elegant Hanoi Opera House, a prime example of French colonial architecture, amidst the grand boulevards and open spaces influenced by the French during their occupation.
  • Wind your way through the city’s maze of narrow streets and alleys to reach Gioi Market, the largest second-hand mechanical and electronics market in Vietnam. From kitchenware to motorbike parts, this market offers an eclectic array of items.
  • Continue your journey through the Old Collective Quarter, providing a glimpse into the city’s residential structure from the socialist era.
  • As the day unfolds, relax with a stop at a vintage railway café, where you can savor a traditional Vietnamese coffee with condensed milk or green tea while soaking in the bustling atmosphere and watching the world pass by.
  • Conclude your adventure with a stroll through the famous Old Quarter, known for its '36 streets with 36 trades.' Each street still bears a name that reflects the craft or trade that flourished there in the 15th century—such as silk street, rice street, paper street, and jewelry street—offering a true glimpse into Hanoi’s rich history and culture.
