During their tour, our members will follow the itinerary as seen below.
Arrive in Ho Chi Minh City, formerly known as Saigon, and be welcomed by your driver and transferred to your hotel for check-in and a refresh. With its heady mix of past and present architecture, scooters whizzing past, and noodle sellers on the sidewalk, Ho Chi Minh City is a city on the move. Spend the rest of the day enjoying free time. Please Note: Official room check-in time is 14.00. Overnight stay in Ho Chi Minh City.
Day 2: Ho Chi Minh City (Breakfast & Lunch)
Explore Ho Chi Minh City’s history, and experience the city as it was before the war. Travel to visit Notre Dame Cathedral and General Post Office which are beautiful examples of architecture from the French colonial period. You'll continue to the Reunification Palace, the former residence of the Indochina Governor General and late President of the Republic of Southern Vietnam until the fall of Saigon in Apr 30, 1975. You will then enjoy lunch in a restaurant.
In the afternoon, you visit a local food market, a flower market, and a local residence to observe the local life. The last stop of the day is the unforgettable Jade Emperor Pagoda. The pagoda is filled with smoky incense and fantastic carved figurines. It was built by the Cantonese community at the turn of the 20th century and continues to buzz with the faithful. Overnight in Ho Chi Minh.
After breakfast, hit the road to Vinh Long and visit Vinh Long Market in the town. This is a great photo opportunity for fish, shrimp, shrimp, crabs, snakes, rice field rats, tropical fruits, vegetables and more. Continue the trip by boat for a cruise to visit the local workshops where you will see how to make rice leaves, coconut candies and rice popcorn.Once here, you'll get to enjoy some types of candies with a hot cup of tea. Following this, you will get to wander around to visit the orchards and a local family as well as enjoy local fruits and tea while listening to traditional music. You will have lunch in one of the local orchards.
In the afternoon, continue your boat trip along the Mekong River and observe many floating boats with cages for fish farming. Then, you will pass the My An canal where you will see many brick kilns on both sides before returning to the Hòa Tịnh canal. You will walk in the peaceful village to see how they make bricks, trays and bamboo baskets as well as learn how they make conical hats by hand. Afterwards, continue on to Can Tho. Overnight in Can Tho.
Day 4: Can Tho – Da Nang – Hoi An (Breakfast)
Following breakfast, take an early morning cruise along the small and picturesque tributaries by motorboat, where you will see the Cai Rang Floating Market - the busiest but nicest floating market with a myriad of rowing boats selling goods. marvel at the beautiful scenery and daily activities of the locals. Later, you will disembark at Ninh Kieu quay before heading to Can Tho airport for your flight to Da Nang. Upon arrival, your driver will pick you up and drive you to your hotel. Free time and overnight in Hoi An.
After breakfast at hotel, at around 8:30 am, a tour guide and motorbike driver will pick you up from hotel for an authentic village tour. This countryside tour of Hoi An will give you real insight to local life. Meet your motorbike driver at your hotel and then ride over the bridge to Cam Kim Island, and then along the riverside into the beautiful rural countryside.
Your first stops include an ancestral house and a traditional boat builder’s yard before you set off to explore the sleepy island villages. Zig-zag through the breathtaking scenery of rice paddies & farmland and enjoy the cooling breeze. Next, learn from friendly local families the art of mat weaving, farming, and how to make (and eat) the perfect Banh Dap rice crackers. Meeting local families is a must-do to see the real way of life in Vietnam. Finally, it’s up high and over the new bridge offering spectacular panoramic views of Hoi An, which takes us to the water coconut palm for interesting basket boat rowing on the peaceful river, and then back to your hotel at noon. Lunch will be served in a restaurant.
Later on, you will take a guided walking tour around Hoi An Ancient Town. Visit the Japanese covered bridge, Chinese Assembly Hall, a typical Vietnamese merchant’s house, one of the interesting museums and the local market. There are numerous art galleries, souvenirs and tailor shops where you can get some express made-to-order clothes if you like. Your next visit will be to the home of a craftsman in the old streets. Here you’ll have a brief introduction to the history, shape and colour of the lanterns as well as stages of making them. Overnight in Hoi An.
Day 6 : Hoi An – Hue (Breakfast & Lunch)
After breakfast, you will proceed along one of Vietnam most scenic highways to Hue (4hr). When crossing the Hai Van pass, you will have a chance to overlook a superb panorama of the central coastline and the beach of Lang Co – one of the most beautiful beaches of Vietnam. Upon arrival in Hue after 3 hour driving, enjoy lunch in a restaurant. In the afternoon, you will explore the Imperial Citadel where Kings of Vietnam’s last feudal dynasty ruled from 1802 to 1945, including Flag Tower, Nine Holy Cannons, Ngo Mon Gate, Thai Hoa Palace, Nine Dynastic Urns, Forbidden Purple City and Thien Mu Pagoda. After this, return to your hotel for time at leisure. Overnight in Hue.
After your breakfast, enjoy free time to make the most of your beautiful resort or explore the area more! Overnight in Hue.
Day 8: Hue – Hanoi (Breakfast)
After breakfast, you will be driven to Hue Airport for the flight to Hanoi. On arrival, your guide and driver will pick you up and drive to the hotel (Check-in time is 14:00). Overnight in Hanoi.
Day 9: Hanoi (Breakfast & Lunch)
After breakfast at hotel, at about 8:00 am, a guide and driver will pick you up at your hotel. Now it is time to begin your exploration by following the most famous streets in the heart of the Old Quarters, where you will discover the dark and tiny alleys whose width is perfectly adapted to an average Vietnamese. You will stop at a local house in the old neighbourhood, whose residents have been living here for over 50 years. Here, you will discuss their daily life as well as their local traditions, culture and way of life. Following this, continue to Dong Xuan Market, the biggest retail market in the Old Quarters, where you can find all the incredible and inexpensive shopping, ranging from exotic herbs to fresh fruits and vegetables, fragrant flowers to craft and the wooden decoration. On the way, you will have 2 stops to sample the drink and typical local dishes. The walk will end at O Quan Chuong gate, the only gate with 5 doors surrounding the citadel Thang Long, survives as a real "square door". Lunch will be at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, visit Temple of Literature (known as the first university of Vietnam) and Thang Long Citadel before returning to your hotel for free time at leisure. Overnight in Hanoi.
After breakfast, you will leave Hanoi for Ha Long Bay, a World Heritage Area of outstanding natural beauty. Upon arrival, transfer to a boat for a cruise around Ha Long Bay with a delicious local seafood lunch served on board. As you cruise, you will pass by many rocks and islets in the shape of a Dog, Incense, Fighting-cock, Finger, Hoa Cuong etc, whilst also having the chance to visit Surprise cave and go kayaking (kayak cost is not include in this package), if weather permitted. Enjoy dinner on board and in the evening, give night fishing a go. Overnight on board. Day 11: Ha Long Bay – Hanoi (Brunch)
In the morning, brunch will be served while cruising in the bay, pass by several rocks, islets and fishing villages, then cruising back toward Ha Long City for disembarking around 11 am. You will then return to Hanoi for free time at leisure. Overnight in Hanoi.
Day 12: Departure from Hanoi (Breakfast)
After breakfast at your hotel enjoy free time until you are transferred from the hotel to the airport for your flight.
Optional Extension to Mai Chau —
The following extension details a Mai Chau extension which can be chosen at the next stage of the booking process for an additional fee.
After breakfast at hotel, your guide will pick you up at your hotel and drive to Mai Chau Valley. You will arrive at Mai Chau after about 4 hours driving. Take a walk or bike ride around the local villages. Overnight in Mai Chau.
Day 13: Mai Chau Valley – Ninh Binh (Breakfast & Lunch)
Wake up early for the sunrise before enjoying breakfast served at your hotel. After breakfast, visit a local market and take a walk through the villages, visit a nursery or a primary school (weekdays), then enjoy a bike ride through the cornfields and peanut fields to reach Xia Spring. At lunch, dine at a homestay. In the afternoon, take the road to Ninh Binh. You will arrive in Ninh Binh after about 3.5 hours. Overnight in Ninh Binh.
Day 14: Ninh Binh – Hanoi (Breakfast & Lunch)
Following breakfast at hotel, take a bike ride on a beautiful country road in the middle of paddy fields and rocky peaks to a small pier, Thung Nham, which is still a little unknown to tourists. Here, you'll take a traditional boat ride in the poetic landscapes of Thung Nham between limestone peaks, whilst you visit the impressive caves on the way. Lunch will be in a local restaurant. Then, you will visit Mua Cave, the most beautiful place to see in Ninh Binh, where you can see the city from the square, with Tam Coc looming in the back as well as the limestone mountain that run along the south of Vietnam. You will then transfer back to Hanoi. Overnight in Hanoi.
Day 15 : Departure from Hanoi (Breakfast)
Enjoy a final breakfast at hotel and free time until your transfer to the airport for the return flight (check-out time is 12:00).
