Your Itinerary

Day 1: Hanoi – Arrival (D) 
Flight arrival in the morning.

After a long flight, you will arrive at our nearly thousand-year-old capital – Hanoi. The guide will meet you at Noi Bai Airport and transfer you to the hotel in the city centre (Hotel check-in time is 14.00. Early check-in is not included).

You then are free on your own to relax before having the welcome dinner in a local restaurant and overnight in Hanoi.

Day 2: Hanoi – Orientation (B/L)
After breakfast, the day starts with a visit to the complex dedicated to Ho Chi Minh – the nation’s founder, containing Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum (viewed from outside on Mondays, Fridays and afternoons as closed), and house on stilts. This complex also comprises the One Pillar Pagoda, whose origins date back to the foundation of the city. 

Continue your trip to Temple of Literature – the first university of Vietnam before having lunch in a local restaurant. In the afternoon, visit Vietnam Museum of Ethnology which focuses on the 54 officially recognized ethnic groups in Vietnam and take a cyclo (rickshaws)/electric car ride around the Old Quarter streets which were named after the specific goods once offered for sale at these places. Stop at Thuy Ta next to Hoan Kiem Lake to taste an ice cream before transferring to enjoy the traditional water puppet show.

Overnight in Hanoi.

Day 3: Hanoi – Cuc Phuong National Park (B/L)
After breakfast, you will escape to bustling Hanoi by land and arrive in Cuc Phuong at around 10:00 am. You will visit the Information Center where you can learn more about the park from the pictures and models on display; visit the Endangered Primate Rescue Center – one of the highlights of a visit to Cuc Phuong, where you can observe some of the rarest primate species in the world. Afterwards, have lunch in a local restaurant at park headquarters.

Drive 20km to the park centre where you begin hiking a 7km loop trail to see the 1000-year-old tree. On this trail, you will have a chance to discover the secrets of nature. This one day tour will conclude with a visit to the Cave of Prehistoric Man, where human skeletons and stone tools dated to some 7.500 years old have been found.

In the evening, if the weather permits, you will have the chance to see the wild animals such as different kinds of squirrels, some small predators… 

Overnight in the park hostel (basic standard). 

Day 4: Cuc Phuong – Hai Phong – Cat Ba (B/L)
After breakfast, depart from Cuc Phuong for Cat Ba Island via Hai Phong.

Upon your arrival in Hai Phong after about 3 hours’ drive, you will be transferred to the pier to take the hydrofoil boat to Cat Ba Island. Check-in hotel then you are free for the remainder of the day to relax on your own or enjoy the beach. Wander around, enjoy the sun or contemplate Ha Long Bay on its less touristy side… just take time to make the most of yourself in this little paradise.

Overnight at Cat Ba.

Day 5: Cat Ba (B/L)  
After breakfast, get ready for a full day discovering this beautiful island. Firstly, visit Cat Ba national park where you have the chance to watch the rare animals or enjoy the natural specialities such as honey bee and safflower tea. Then immerse yourself in nature, visit the pier and then the beautiful caves such as Quan Y, Trung Trang for contemplating stalagmites and stalactites in various forms. Homestay lunch included.

You can choose to cycle along the path to discover the diversity of species and take beautiful pictures (bike rental fee at your own expense). Return to the hotel, free time to relax on your own or enjoy the beach.

Overnight in Cat Ba.

Day 6: Cat Ba – Bay Cruising – Hanoi (B/L)
After breakfast at your hotel, you will check out then transfer to the pier where you board the boat to Lan Ha Bay. Now is the time to enjoy kayaking and swimming (the cruise itinerary is subject to weather condition). After that, the boat will make a fantastic route through the beautiful islands and islets of the bay.

Have lunch with seafood before returning to the pier to take the hydrofoil boat trip back to Hai Phong. The car will be there to transfer you to Hanoi. You arrive at your hotel in the late afternoon.

Day 7: Hanoi – Hue (B/L)
Breakfast at your hotel then you have free time until you are transferred to the airport for the domestic flight to Hue.

Arrival in Hue, transfer to your hotel to leave luggage then start to explore this city. You will board the boat along the peaceful Perfume River (Huong River) to visit Thien Mu Pagoda which is also home to many young people who want to try out and learn from life as a monk. Learn the history of Thien Mu Pagoda, dating back from the year 1601. Legend has it that a celestial lady dressed in red appeared and asked the lord of the place to build a pagoda to control the supernatural forces and dominate the area. Lunch in a local restaurant.

Overnight in Hue.

Day 8: Hue – Visits (B/L)

After breakfast, take a cyclo tour from your hotel to the Imperial Citadel where Kings of Vietnam’s last feudal dynasty ruled from 1802 to 1945, including Flag Tower, Nine Holy Cannons, Ngo Mon Gate, Thai Hoa Palace, Nine Dynastic Urns, Forbidden Purple City. You then visit the kite making and take a few steps if you wish. Lunch in a restaurant.

In the afternoon, take a bike ride around the village to visit the garden houses – the Hue unique style, pass by many temples recognized as one of Hue's cultural traits and the friendly locals. The car will pick you up at the village then transfer you to Thanh Toan if you want to visit its famous covered bridge, its agricultural tools museum, and take a walk on the village path to see the life of the locals. Back to the hotel to relax.

Day 9: Hue – Hoi An (B/L)
After breakfast, you will drive along the most beautiful coast of Vietnam to Hoi An. Stop on Hai Van pass for a panoramic view of the white sand beach, blue sea and green mountain. Upon arrival in Hoi An after 03-hour drive, have lunch in a local restaurant. 

The afternoon is free for you to relax at the hotel, discover the city or take a bike ride to the beach (bike rental is at your own expense).

Day 10: Hoi An – Visits (B/L)
After breakfast, take a guided walking tour around Hoi An Ancient Town. Visit the Japanese Covered Bridge, Chinese Assembly Hall, and the local market. There’re numerous art galleries, souvenirs and tailor shops where you can get some express made-to-order clothes if you like! After that, arrive at the house of a craftsman in the old streets to get a brief introduction of history, form and the colour of the lanterns, and the stages of their elaboration. Have lunch at a local restaurant then be free on your own for the whole afternoon.

Day 11: Hoi An – Free at Leisure (B)
A full free day to relax, enjoy the pool or discover the city in your own way.

Day 12: Hoi An – Da Nang – Hanoi/Ho Chi Minh – Departure (B)
After breakfast, free time until transfer to the airport (no guide) for the flight to Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh to take your flight back home.

Day 12: Da Nang – Ho Chi Minh (B)
After breakfast at your hotel, you will be free until check out time and meet our driver (no guide) for a short drive to the airport. You will board a flight to Ho Chi Minh City. Upon arrival, you're met by our guide and transfer to hotel in city centre.

Day 13: Ho Chi Minh – Visits (B/L)
Pick up at your hotel and transfer to visit the moving War Remnants Museum which presents a partial, but riveting, view of the American War, as it is known in Vietnam.

Continue to the Reunification Palace, the former residence of the Indochina Governor-General and later President of the Republic of Southern Vietnam until the fall of Saigon on April 30, 1975. Have lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, continue to visit the Jade Pagoda (Ngoc Hoang Pagoda) and Notre Dame Cathedral before your last stop at the bustling Ben Thanh Market.

Back to the hotel to relax.

Overnight in Ho Chi Minh City.

Day 14: Ho Chi Minh – Can Gio Nature and Biosphere Reserve (B/L)
After breakfast, 08.00 you will be picked up then transferred to Can Gio. Upon arrival (around 10 a.m.), visit the Monkey Island located in the Can Gio Mangrove Forest which was recognised as the International Biosphere Reserve on January 21, 2000, by UNESCO. You then visit the Can Gio Museum, with archaeological, unique flora and fauna. Continue your tour by a boat trip to the mangrove forest and attend the Rung Sac guerrilla camp to see crocodiles, wildcats, otters, pythons, playful monkeys and more. Then you will be transferred to Beach 30-4, where you can see Vung Tau on the left and Tien Giang on your right. Take your time to relax before having lunch at the Carrot restaurant facing the East Sea.

In the afternoon, drive to Vam Sat eco-tourism region then take a boat trip crossing the typical mangrove flora to visit Vam Sat. You can experience the crab and crocodile fishing on the boat then transfer to the crab ponds to learn their cycle of life and how to collect the best crabs to eat. You will enjoy seeing a variety of wild animals and admire the Vam Sat bird sanctuary. Last stop at the crocodile farm to learn about the crocodile spawning process and visit the new fangs.

Return to Ho Chi Minh at the end of the afternoon.

Day 15: Ho Chi Minh – Departure (B)
After breakfast, free time until transfer to the airport (no guide) for your flight back home.

Visa Information

Passport validity

Your passport should be valid for a minimum of 6 months on the date you enter Vietnam for you to be eligible for the 15 day visa exemption.

For periods of stay longer than 15 days, entry into Vietnam may be refused if your passport has less than 1 month validity from the date your Vietnamese visa expires.

Visas

Until 30 June 2018 ‘British Citizen’ passport holders travelling for tourism or business can enter Vietnam for up to a maximum of 15 days without a visa. If you have a different type of British nationality – for example ‘British national (overseas)’- you’ll need to get a visa or an e-visa before entering Vietnam.

The below should be added if the offer is 15 days or over:

For visits of up to 30 days, you can get an e-visa online before you travel. Use of the e-visa is limited to certain entry/exit points which you must select at the time of application. If you don’t have fixed travel plans, consider applying for a regular single entry visa from the nearest Vietnamese Embassy, which allows more flexibility.
